:stoner Ok, so the theory is, as soon as time travel is discovered in our life time we will instantly know it as one will travel back in time. :shake So, my great idea was to make a time capsule, bury it, then check it to see if someone or myself puts a note in it. :hmm

Whatda think? :coffee

Cobb, this is a message from the future. Time travel doesn't work, tell everyone in your time to stop trying, that only bad things will come from it!

I have an intersting theory on time travel. It reads as such
Time travel is impossible for 2 reasons
1. There is no such thing as "time" because man simply made up the idea. We put made up words to different parts of the day so we could better categorize our activities. Therefore since time is not real we cannot travel within it.
2. If time travel was possible, the second you got back to the "past" you'd be instantly killed. Why? Because you did not exist in that time peroid, therefore you would revert to your primary state (ie, semen or something like that).
It just isnt possible...and we will never see it :shake

Read Robert Heinlein. He spent a lot of time thinking about this.

Time travel is possible. We do it every day. Hell, I've traveled 20 years in the past 20 years. lol

I hope time travel is not possible. "true" time travel would come into pretty nasty conflict with free will in my book.

I DO think time travel in the interdimensional sense is possible. ie you go back in time and "poof" time line splits parallel timeline.

SO you go back in time but your in a new timeline now and won't have any effect on the original timeline you came from. IE no paradoxes.

I need you to hang with me here, but I got my own theory about this time thing. It's the forth dimension, right?

Anyway, I have to start with telepathy, or the ability to read someone or somethings mind other than your own, or snooping. I thought about this for a minute or two and concluded that telepathy more tightly defined is actually at its core understanding someone or something else the way they want to be understood. Try it and you'll see that it works.

So my idea about time travel is this: we already all do it. Its called remembering. And, if your idea of an argument is that you can't change the past by remembering it, I say try and change the present, I mean for real change the right here and now. Not just your socks. Make something big happen. See? It didn't happen. Nothing ever happens but the inevitable.

Hold on :stoner

So I'll continue and say that remembering the past and imagining it different is changing the past. It's more effective than trying to change your life right now. It can even be therapeutic and actually help and heal some people, just by remembering stuff a little bit different.

Let me confuse us all even worse now :D

We can change our memories to suit us, in other words if you have an unhappy memory you can change it to where its not so bad (its called denial). I don't know if I would classify it as changing time though, as the event has already happened and we are simply changing our understanding of the event and not the actual event itself.
- Every time I get into this it leads me into the belief that perhaps every day is the same day and has been the same day since the first one. Just because the sun goes up and comes back down doesnt mean that its a "new" or different day, we just categorize it as such to help us put things in an order we can understand (natural human trait). I understand that every "day" different things happen, but perhaps its all just one continous day with different light and dark cycles. Our random categorization does nothing more thn help us cope with it. Just because we put a label on it, doesnt mean thats what it is.
- In my opinion time is not a physical state and we are not within it, therefore we cannot move inside of it. It is an idea, a concept, a vision.
