Autozone fires worker who stopped robbery, may have saved life.

Now if you use the argument of a courthouse having a guard. Or if Autozone had a guard, then what if you thought it wasn't adequate?
That would open up a whole new can of worms. Every once in a while you will hear of a shooting in a courtroom.

Seattle ain't a bad place, other than the damned traffic and taxes. But Seattle-ites really do run the state. What Seattle says, goes. It is a whole different ballgame on the other side of the mountains, though. We have a deep blue half and a deep red half...with a tiny purple stripe running down the Cascades.

Fair point about a person questioning the "adequacy" of courtroom security. However, for the most part I am willing to accept a "you can't have a gun because we provide protection" argument. Like with air marshals. But they can't sentence you to life in prison in an Autozone like they can in a courthouse, so having armed family members in with the judge, jury, lawyers, families, etc would be a special recipe for disaster.

And I want the Supersonics back. As of a few years ago they are the Oklahoma City Thunder. :( The powers that be in Seattle let the team go pretty easily, but now realize doing so has blown a huge hole in the city's tax revenues. They are trying to get another team to come back here now. And an NHL team. ;)

**Happy to trade you the Mariners for the White Sox, though!

Whats the NHL? lol. Actually I really like hockey. I would love to go see a blues game.

and yea I know exactly about the thunder. Durant is a beast. westbrook shoots way too much and Ibaka is a monster!

I would be surprised if Seattle gets another NBA team.

Lol...I know, I know. The team got pretty good as soon as they left. I think they won a grand total of 17 games their last season in Seattle.

Seattle may someday get another NBA team (I heard they were in talks with the Sacramento Kings), but the city is really gonna have to take it in the ass to get somebody to move there given their previous dealings with the Sonics.

Hopefully Seattle doesn't get screwed with a stadium like how the marlins owner screwed over miami.

A man in my local safeway was punching his wife in the face and an employee had to knock the guy out to keep him from killing her. Guy got fired and sued the shit out of safeway.

"Chicks dig me and guys think I'm cool."

I've stated it here before, but my buddy is concealed carry and delivers pizza. Gotted robbed on a Monday night by two sawed-off-shotgun-toting thugs who ran up on him with ski masks. His spidey sense kicked in beforehand and he knew something was up, so he yelled at the guys to "Stand down, stand down!!" But they ran up on him anyway. One of the thugs slipped on the driveway which allowed my friend to draw and open fire.......one thug is now dead and the other is recovering from his injuries awaiting trial. No charges were pressed against my friend.

My friend who owns the pizza shop went on the news and stated his policy; "I tell my drivers to give the would-be-robbers whatever they want....it's not worth your life." But he also publicly defended the driver for his right to conceal-carry.

My friend was NOT fired, but is revered locally as a hero. These same two thugs had hit three other drivers the previous weekend, cracking one of them over the head with the butt of the sawed-off shotgun. The police even publicly praised him.

Every situation is different, and not every robber is looking to shoot their victims....only use the gun as intimidation. But I've also read horror stories of pizza shop robberies where the employees are herded into the cooler only to be summarily shot execution style.

I don't personally own a firearm, but I agree we all have a right to defend ourselves and support those who do.

Video Cameras continue to increase in quality and get cheaper (http://www.x10.com/homepage.htm). In the future they will be in most public places. A mask will only work for a criminal if you need to wait for the police to show up. There will be a presumption that a person wearing a mask intended to do you harm so there will be no reason to hesitate to use lethal force against the person wearing the mask. The video cameras will show your shooting was justified. The problem at this moment is that cameras are not everywhere yet so concealed carry permit holders hesitate to defend themselves because they face being sued for shooting the attacker in the leg or ending up on death row if they kill their attacker(I expect there are alot of people on death-row that say they were acting in self-defense when they killed their victim so why should you expect the cops to believe you since they heard it all before). Criminals understand that good civilians will hesitate to shoot out of fear of being sued or incarcerated. As cameras become more prevalent this problem goes away, crime will be inhibited, and anyone will be free to leave their house without fear of being outnumbered.

every robber with a gun is looking to shoot their victims in my mind. they arent there to bake you a cake. if you draw a gun on a cop guess what hes gonna do.

i would love to see responsible people in this country be properly trained and carrying weapons on the streets. not just thugs and gangbangers.
