Well Ill go first since I started it, Ive rented my condo half of the past year for less than the monthly bills on it. I Guess that goes against my income and helps with a nice return? Ive only listed deductions such as carpet, paint, hoa fee, interest. I havent deducted expenses for driving out there, horing out the condo online to get a renter or anything like that. Assuming Ill need to get turbo tax premiere vs the middle package? Anyway I can take advantage of my renting of my condo for anything nice? Like can I get a new computer from it, an ipad, etc? Also any benefit tax wise to rent it for less than I did this year? Monthly its 731 in costs, it wasnt til I hit 625 a month did I get 30 responses to the ad. If I were to aim lower, to show a great loss, that just means a bigger refund? I notice many rentals include utilities, I am assuming its for that reason as well?I had my taxes done once at HR block for a website I ran with wheelchair articles on it. I was charged 200 bucks and all the lady did was ask tons of questions, she didnt give any advice. While waiting I heard ofpeople deducting for cloths gas, etc to go to job interviews and even having a resume written. Since then I just do turbo tax. |

I don't know much about taxes. I use turbo tax. Love it. I think you need to do the premium package. Its what $20 or $30 difference? I think with TT, if you start mid level and realize you need the next step up, it all transfers. tried tax slayer a few years ago. it sucked. went back to TT. There are so many deductions you can get its ridiculous. I'm surprised there isn't a toilet paper or wipe your ass reduction. |

IDK if they do or not. I would assume so, they ask me so many things that don't apply to me. Google turbotax and go to the site. They will explain a few things. |

I take that as a no? The past 2 years turbo tax wasnt too helpful for the phev or solar energy credit. I had to wait til like Feb 15 and even then I had to look up the form as it wasnt included. It did get the first time home buyer tax credit right. Now my job sends you the w2 Feb 1 vs including it in your Dec pay stub. I typically fill out tt early as I can and if I get a refund I file, if I owe, I wait til the last day.

I don't know how you owe. I mean in all honesty, the only people I ever hear that pay is like a 30 year old single guy that makes $50k. I don't understand how I get so much back. I'm not bitching about free money, but I think of the other several million like me that don't pay much and get a huge check back. How is it that I make $4,000 in a year. Go to school. Get some school assistance and get $1400 back.....just doesn't add up. Cobb - Idk about TT and the solar energy credit. My stuff is pretty straight through. Just college expenses and use to have stocks. I just like the step by step guide. It makes it easy for someone especially when they have never done it manually. I don't think we have a CPA on here. I could never become a CPA .

Just is.....thats the only way to explain our tax system. Person 1: makes $1,000/month. No school, nothing fancy. Person 2: makes $1,000/month. No school, nothing fancy too. Person 1 gets $1200 refund. Person 2 gets $400 back.......why the difference? Just is Thanks econ, thats what I'm gonna say from now on when anyone asks me a question......just is |
