It the engine using any oil?

Do the spark plugs look normal, or do they have black accumulations on them?

There is a good chance the oil rings are gunked up causing smoke. I would compression test it first.

i overfilled it by a 2 quarts and it burped it out the vent tube.it doesnt smoke as much but still smokes at idle.it does have bad valve guide seals on one cylinder i think only one spark plug is soot colored shoots out a cloud on start up. i doubt it the rings no way id average 42 mpg on 1.3L g13b

At least get yourself a set of Viton seals to upgrade and see if the problem persists. It's a low cost procedure.

Yes, could take a few weeks of continued use.

ran marvel mystery oil.and it is running better dont know how long i need to run it before i change it.i noticed a large amount of carbon build up around my tail pipe exit on the back of my bumper just washed it before i changed the oil.my gas mileage has gone down though im around 32 mpg because its so cold and i dont have the underbelly skirting under the engine.might do that this week end and check the engine codes might need a new o2 sensor again replaced it like 20k ago though shouldnt be bad.i doubt the rings are bad it runs really well no noticeable reduction in power or anything.could be getting too cold of air might try something with that too

Low temps = low MPG's

My wife's 96 averages 52-56 MPG in summer. In winter it's 38-46 MPG.

My 92 gets 49-53 MPG in summer (if I keep my foot out of it) and in winter it's like 32-38 MPG.
