Ok, I cleaned all grounds. Did help with slow cranking. Checked pick-up coil, 164.9 ohms. Still Hard to start. I usually don't give up, but have finally threw in the towel. After working a 12 hour night shift and then 7 hours of trying to get geo to start, which it only did twice, I dropped it off at a shop. Frustrated doesn't begin to descibe how I feel. I do appreciate everyone's input and help. I like working on my own stuff, but have to know when enough is enough. :banghead :x Thanks Again.

Shop says it is a problem in the head or valves. Low compression even when wet. No problems with timing. He checked for sheared key and pin. Found a wreck car with a running engine. Going to swap engines for now. Will tear down engine once I get it removed. To be continued......

Engine swap was succesful. Lots more power and hopefully mpgs. Took head off of removed engine and what to my wondering eye's appeared. Burnt exhaust valves. What causes this and how can I prevent it on replacement engine?

don't drive it B-) Metros burn valves.

Stainless steel valves, spotlessly clean lifters, thin oil (5W-30), don't drive it if it's burning oil, advance the ignition timing to 8 or 10°. If you very carefully follow all of these recommendations, you might stretch your exhaust valve life to 200K, they'll still burn though. Doesn't matter, by that time the rings are shot and the oil burning from the worn tings is going to cook your valves.
