I have been chasing a couple engine grimlins since the moment I got this car but lately I have 2 new issues. The first one is the code 51 (EGR). I have replaced the EGR valve with a brand new one, cleaned out all the lines and head passage from the exhaust manifold to the valve as well as the passages to the intake manifold. I have also replaced all the vacuum lines. I did the process for rebuilding the IAC valve as instructed in this link http://geometroforum.com/topic/5019858/1/ . The car runs great, idles fine. I mainly drive on the freeways and I have a heavy foot and still stay in the low to mid 40 mpg range. The 2nd odd new issue is that I am "missing" coolant. I recently had to swap out my crank shaft (long story) and ever since then, I keep having to add water/coolant to the radiator pretty regularly (once a week). There are no visible leaks any where. No dripping or steam or even the smell of coolant when I drive. The performance of the car is great so I dont think it is a head gasket issue. No "smoke" from the exhaust either that would lead me to think head gasket. Was thinking maybe a bad radiator cap? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. thank guys |

Still dunno what the deal is with the EGR. The check engine light has remained off since I last reset the codes. Found the issue with the missing coolant though. There is a leak under the dash, either a bad hose or bad heater core. Gunna dig into that this week. |

Sorry to tell you, the hoses end under the hood. |

If I was normal, you would be right. But.... when I rebuilt the car, I pushed the ends of the hoses into the holes of the fire wall before tightening the hose clamp. So, It is either a bad clamp that would normally leak into the engine compartment or the heater core is cracked.

I did replace the thermostat and radiator car though, just to eliminate those possibilities. |
