Mine is a 1990 g10 with both a Vacuum/centrifugal ( 2 vacuum hoses attached two distributor)advance distributor and a diagnostic(4 pin) connector.

One method says to disconnect hose from gas filter and plug said filter then set timing after adjusting idle speed. No mention of jumping connector.

The other method says to to put a jumper wire to c and d on diagnostic connector and set timing. No mention of disconnecting and plug vacuum lines.

Both method say to turn everything off, warm engine to operating temp and set idle speed.

Which method do I use?

Plug or clamp the 2 vacuum lines to the distributor.

I remove both vacuum hoses, from the distributor, and plug them. :thumb

The diagnostic port does nothing on vacuum advance models. It's a factory thing. :deal Never really felt the need to fine out what it really is for. :hmm

Idle can be adjusted to taste, but not really necessary. :gamerz

If you're experiencing high idle, there's a 99.99% chance that it Is Not the Idle Air Screw out of adjustment anyway. :shake
