Hey Y'all,
I love Geo Metros and have had 3 (so far). I was looking to get another low milage one and found a 89 Firefly with only 120000 kms. I haven't seen it yet but the guy who owns it doesn't know the engine size. How can one tell the difference?

its very easy a 3 cyl only has 3 plugs right in the front , 1.3 takes up a lot more space under the hood

look for that 4th cyllinder....if its there, and you have 4 plug wires (plus a 5th in the middle) and the engine seems kinda long........then you probaly have a 4 cylinder.

you can also count the connections on both the intake and exhaust manifold......if they both have 4.....then its a 4 cylinder.

maby we can get this thread "pinned" for future referance.

lol

Hey, at some point in the past every single person here did not know that. -Although Geo Glenn may have traveled back in time to save Metros. He knows too much...

I'm probably wrong here, never having seen one in the US, but shouldn't a 1989 Firefly only come with the 3 cylinder?
