Welp i found out my 97 metro lsi 4 cyl 1.3 is toast. :smackface It jumped time and busted a piston, luckily i got another lsi 96 with the exact same engine. :rocker Are they any harder to change than the 3 cyl engines? :hmm

Put a new timing belt back on it, and run it. Nothing is wrong with it.

Its a three cylinder with an extra cylinder. Easy cheezy.

How do you know you broke a piston? Did you see carnage in the oil pan?

It makes a terrible clicking noise when its running, and its not the rocker arms. I changed them all out,and it has good oil pressure. Also when you put a wrench on the crank bolt and turn it, every now and then you will hear a clank noise with the timing belt off. That kindof tells me its a busted piston or a bad wrist pin. When it is running it runs smooth and dont smoke.

Possible your crank shaft key is sheered.

That crank pulley should not ever be loose and will make noise!

I put a wrench on the crank bolt and you can hear it in the oil pan. It also has good oil pressure.

1) put a belt back on it
2) compression check
3) post results

In that order. :banghead

The oil pump is driven off of the crankshaft so you will have good oil pressure. By the way how do you know you have good pressure ? :ermm:

Without a timing belt, the engine is going to make weird noises and "feel" funny. Put a belt back on! ^o)

Are you 100% certain you arent off by one tooth to be certain? Are you lining up to the timing mark opposite of the dowel on your cam sprocket?

Compression test, if it's no good, drain the oil and look for shavings or shards

Is there any parts of the piston laying in the oil pan?
