It seems the drivers side of my car has either more exposure to the elements or 2 different people worked on it and torqued the wheel lugs to 800 ft lbs. Luckly for me, I got my own impact wrench. So, it looks like I got 2 front wheel studds that are cone shape, vs cylinder shape and inside the lug nut was a lump of metal. It was 30 degrees out with 40mph winds yesterday so I just left that wheel and went to the passenger side and installed my wheel spacer. Now Ive rotated the tires and installed 3 of the 4 wheel spacers and 2 stripped wheel studds already. I got 2 mo in the mail for 5 bucks plus free shipping. I was wondering if someone could give me the cliff notes on how to install it. Do I need to take the auto locking hub apart, snap ring or curl clip pliers? Is there a hole in the rear I can just bang the old one out and insert the one one with removing the rotor or hub? Thx, its freezing out again today with snow falling and I want to be prepared tool wise to walk through this with numb hands and feet as quick as possible.

Gee, thanks guys, I know I can really count on you when my car is on jack stands in the front yard. If it werent for the arselogs on the suzuki forum I almost made a tow guy and some grease monkey at a local shop several hundred dollars richer. Anyhoo, if you find yourself in this situation you can buy the studs off ebay for 2.59 with free shipping and you just beat it out the hub after remvoing a bolt and loosen the other 17 mm one that holds the brake thingie bracket and swing it out of the way. Then beat the old one out, remove it from the rear and in sert the new one, torque it in from the front.

Lost 2 drivers side wheel lugs and broke the studs. Checked all 4 and found the rear vs front passenger side had different studs where the drivers was mixed. Sees there are different studs for the rear vs front and the drivers side had them mixed up. 50 bucks later and a lot of hammering I got the drivers side like the passenger side.

Just saw this and thought I would add a pic so people know what your talking about.![]() The one on the left is a stud for the front wheels, the one in the middle is for the rear wheels (shorter). The one on the right is my broken rear stud. |
