I was wondering, before I take tux out on his first trip, what is the top NON-DAMAGING speed? I know the car can go 94mph, but I also know that it won't hold up to that use. Is the top mechanically sound speed 70? 75?

Also, for highway driving, is the most fuel efficient speed 60/65?

Automatic? 55 or slower.
Manual? 65 or slower 55 is preferred.

Either way just drive as slow as you feel comfortable

I installed a MPGuino last weekend and I found that my car does better cruising at 40mph and 60mph for FE. Top Speed around here is 55mph so I haven't gone past 60mph yet. I had a feeling that my car would do better at 60 vs 55 because it always seems to run more smooth at 60 vs 55.

Cool, thanks ^^ It's a manual and the highways here are almost all 65-60. My regular commute will be 40-50 so I'm in good territory XD I just needed to make sure it could handle lengthy bouts of driving 65 on the highway

*shutters* I'll actually be obeying the speed limits... That's something I NEVER did on my bike XD It was always 110-120%+

I've done hours at a time at 75-80 in mine, and have had it as fast as 97mph fully loaded down, but that was not sustained, just to see what it would get up to.

I drove nightmare 4000 miles round trip in december, with a top speed of 93 mph, main cruising speed was 65-75. on the way back was 27 hours of driving, with a power nap somewhere along the 22 hours of driving mark. 65-75 when it wasnt stop and go....

I've driven my Turd for 6 hours at 75MPH without issue. I would think you could do 80 for hours without problems. ^o)

My Filthy Beast did 11 hours at 65 mph and one fuel stop between Reno, Nevada and McCall, Idaho. :drivin

On vacation, trying to balance long driving with FE at 60-65 mph the best tank was 57 mpg and usually 52-55 but at a very steady pace.
