I've had 2 threads for this project, one was for the 3-wheeled conversion, but that one was scrapped, so I moved back to this one because it's less cluttered. Here are all the parts I've gathered so far: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here is what else I need or am doing: Bottom end rebuild (won't know what's needed until I get into it) UD pulley: 4 bolt 3 rib Instrument cluster with tach neon center console New transmission fluid Paint Hood Windshield(later) Lowering Springs(if in budget) Frame Brace(if in budget) Strut Tower Braces(if in budget) Tires Window Tinting(might wait til next year) Battery Underbody coating Radiator Rear Brakes, bearings, struts Gas Tank Fuel Pump I'm sure there is more... but I just can't think of all of it at once. a lot of this stuff won't be occurring all at once. My main concern will be to have a reliable daily driver so the extras will come later on when I have more cash. Either way, it's be exciting stuff. The project is slated to begin shortly after July 18th. so only about 7 weeks left! |

I'm looking at flights and trying to confirm a good date for my friend to pick me up from the airport, but the cheapest flight lands on Saturday July 20th so that's my number one choice. If I end up with that flight, I'll start the project the Monday after. I'm currently in the process of selling my 2000 Ford Focus ZX3 so that should free up some funds for some cool stuff which I'll talk about below. I recently picked up an instrument cluster with a tachometer and I'm also in the process of buying an intermittent wiper switch. Those are 2 not really necessary items but they're nice to have. I want the final product to look something like this: ![]() The wheels I'm looking at buying are these. I think they should look pretty sharp. Specs on the wheels and tires: Spec: 14x6 Bolt Pattern : 4 x 114.3 Offset : +35 Tire Size: 185/60R14 If someone could let me know if these will have and fitment problems let me know. I believe the stock convertible set-up was real close to this one so I expect it should work Parts left to get: Gas Tank radiator Piston Rings Pistons (other bottom end parts as is needed) Gasket kit Water Pump BT900 head gasket Hood Paint Lowering Springs Window Tinting under drive pulley Rear Brakes, bearings, struts, and other stuff I'm hoping to defer the cost of these items until a later date when I can get some more money saved up: Wheels Tires Lower brace Strut Tower Braces Windshield Planned Mods: 12mm stud upgrade fog light installation neon console H4 headlight upgrade new speakers and radio random interior mods coolant heater Only about a month left until I get started! |

Those will fit no problem. The konig zero-in rims I'm getting look similar. I'm about a week away from starting mine. Waiting on rear control arms... |

I'll be landing in Nashville on Saturday where my dad will be there to pick me up. I'll either get started on the project Saturday night or Sunday morning. Here is what has happened since I last posted: I purchased t3ragtop's power unit and brake upgrade so I will no longer be rebuilding my engine. I'll be using a 4.10 transmission instead of the 3.79 transmission because I want this car to be fun to drive and I'll still be getting great gas mileage either way. I ordered 155/70R13 tires. I'll be mounting them to steel wheels for now. I don't have the money for alloys right now and the actual purpose of this car is to reliably get me to my local community college for my calculus classes I ordered a new gas tank since mine was leaking. I got a new pump. So I won't have to worry about that crapping out on me for a long time. I'll be painting the car daytona electric blue with single stage urethane paint. I'm holding off on lowering springs for now because it's $200 I don't have. That's where I'm at with the project. Baseball season ended today so when I get back from Tennessee I can find another job so I'll have money so spend on the metro! |

Bet you can't wait to get started. I started mine, but this heat and the rain last week made me take a break. |

hydrojim, you'd better shake a leg and get busy on that. ![]() hogleg, that's a lame excuse - it's hot out, jeez! i go through 4 or 5 tee shirts a day. when i feel like i'm going to pass out from the heat, i stumble into the house and take a cold shower. then i sit in air conditioning and drink ice water until my core temp comes down. i put on a dry shirt and go at it again. those cars don't fix themselves ya' know.

You, have a lot more work than I to do before geopalooza my friend. I still have the rear struts to do, fuel filter, cs 130 alt with all new terminals and wires, power wash and wire brush the undercarriage, and por-15 it. Ill do the interior soundproofing, side skirts, and prep for paint after geopalooza. I can't do anything when it's wet out or I'm laying in mud, and had 7 kids in the house this week so I wasn't even home much cuz we go swimming a lot when it's hot. Also, I set easily achievable goals, so with over 3 weeks to go I'm still ahead of schedule!

I landed in Nashville last night and my dad picked me up and I'm in Clarksville now. We got me set-up with groceries and cleaned up my bay in the garage. we even managed to remove the old fuel tank and replace it with a new fuel tank, fuel pump, and fuel filter. Before anyone says it, I did not relocate the fuel filter because I won't have to do it for many miles, the fuel filter I got was $4, and I'm lazy. I can always do it later. Here are some action shots! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() engine: ![]() removed gas tank: ![]() undercoated above the gas tank: ![]() new tank: ![]() painting tank: ![]() Tomorrow I start working on the front end. I'll get the engine removed, put all my new front end parts in, paint the engine bay, and then work my way back and then next step will be interior and painting. I'll undercoat it as I move to the back to help fight the Cleveland rust. Not quite sure how much I'll be updating because I don't have a computer for my personal use down here. I'll try to update every day though. But I'm here and the project is beginning! |

that's looking good, jim. i'd be inclined to hit that tank on the bottom with truck bed liner - a heavy coat, too. i'll be following your build.
