They are MB wheels seven X. I got them in 13 inch because I didn't want my speedometer to be off very much. Just a weird pet peeve thing...

i got a set of those wheels for my wife's aveo in april. they are really pretty nice wheels and they look good. did they give you the concentric ring adapters to fit the metro?

I don't think so? What do the hub centric rings do? This is my first set of aftermarket wheels.

Well since all this work is being performed at my dad's girlfriend's tire shop, I took the opportunity to ask about hub centrics rings. I also found out that the lug holes on my wheels are too small to fit a socket into so I have to use tuner lugs. I've spent this whole day sanding away! Not exactly the most fun part of the project.

These are what you need if your wheels use tapered seats on the lugnuts. Here is where to get them. Lugnuts This type will ensure that you have enough thread engagement. Some do not.

:gp You may need these spline drive shank nuts

if socket clearance is a problem.

Just make sure they're 12 x 1.25! Not 1.50 :die

You are doing a 12mm upgrade, right? :news You'll get opinions both ways, but I feel alloys, on 10mm studs is asking for trouble. :x

when i had the mb wheel m7 rims installed on lizzie's aveo, i made sure that they also had the bolt pattern for the sf413j suzuki variant in case i "inherited" them. :P

you do not want to use the lugs as shown with the tube beneath the 60* seat. just use regular 60* bulge lug nuts with the internal spline drive, the "tuner" lugs in m12 x 1.25.

Not much to show for my work today. I got almost all of the car sanded. Still have to do the rocker panels, the interior, the fenders, the doors, and about half the engine bay. So I guess I'm really only half way done. My focus this weekend will be to fix the driver's side floor pan and rocker panel. I believe my leaky window was the cause of the rust because this car is immaculate everywhere else. Once the rust is fixed I'll paint the engine bay and then get the front end back together so that the car will be mobile for painting.

I have a working plan. Hoping to be done with the car in 2 weeks so we'll see what happens.

any reason now to use toe E-T style lugs? just wondering what your reasoning was?

I run the spline lug nuts pictured above on both of my metros that run the mb 7x wheels. The plastic hub rings were dirt cheap at americas tire.

i bought a set of those elongated lug nuts and the thread extension below the taper was too big to go into the holes on the wheels.

i just received this set for my suzuki 7 spoke rims.

i run these on the american racing wheels on my blue vert. this is what i recommend for your mb wheels m7 rims.

i like these internal spline tuner lugs. you really don't have to worry about anything contacting the rim with this style and the adapter is sturdier. the external spline drive adapter has really thin walls and i've broken them before. i've never broken the internal spline or internal hex drive tuner lugs or their drive tools.

well, as usual, my photo documenting was not the best! once I get going I rarely stop to take a photo. I'm lucky to just get before and after shots. Today, I got a frozen bushing of the driver's side front control arm mount, I fixed the 2 rust holes in the car, put some body filler in the minor dents, refreshed my steering rack, mounted and balanced my wheels, and installed a new heater core.

So I guess I kept myself busy today. My dad was here to help with the body work which I have no experience with, so that was a big help. it turned out great but I have no after shots. woops.

I riveted in metals sheets on both the floor pan and the rocker. Then I covered the panels with bondo. On the floor board, I just left the rough texture because it don't matter. But on the rocker panel, you can't even tell we did anything. Turned out great! but no pictures. :smackface

that picture was during the heater core removal. All the foam on all the flappers in the ducting system is pretty well shot so I'm going to try to replace some of it to get better seals.

Those brand new Sunny SN828 tires looks damn good on the MB motoring Seven X wheels! 155/70R13 on a 13x5 wheel. I wanted slightly wider tires, but I got all 4 tires for $160 shipped so I couldn't complain about that.

dug into the steering rack! easier than I thought it would be.

Nice "rebuilt" steering rack. I still need to pick up a new boot kit since mine are probably 20 years old and liable to fall apart soon enough.

well that was everything we did today! The project continues! :rocker

Jim, you might want to rethink the floorboard patch. It's just my opinion that the floorboard is an integral part of structual support system of our metros. Althought your patch job will keep the water out of the cabin, it will not help at all if you are in an accident. I prefer to use welds for the patch. I don't know if you have access to a welder, but you might try to find one and learn to burn some metal. It's kind of fun, also.

You're doing a great job. Keep the pic coming.

If I crash, I figure I'm pretty screwed no matter what. If it means anything, I used bondo inside and outside of the metal sheet which is thicker that the stock floor pan. We have a welder here at the shop, but that sheet was made of aluminum and it was free so I just went with that. I'll probably switch it out someday for a better repair when I fix up the interior.

Today was one of those days where I didn't do much but I felt like I got a lot done. A milestone so to speak.

First, I got the engine in primer

Posted Image

Then, I put on a solid coat of red paint. I won't be clear coating the engine bay I think. I don't really see a point to it.

Posted Image

The rest of this week will be spent putting the front end back together. I'll probably paint the rest at the end of the week.
