Stomach was hurting on and off today. Must have eaten something funny. Anyway, I laid down on some cardboard everyone once in a while and tried to relax so I wasn't working all day. I just started putting the front end together and put undercoating in the wheel wells. I didn't want the wheel wells to be red because I thought it would look weird around the tires.![]() ![]() I also sprayed undercoating on the floor of the car. I don't really know why. I figured it would help with rust when the snow melts off my shoes in the winter. Plus it looks good.

Looking nice man! Wish I had the patience to tear mine down completely. Thanks for all the pics. Good to see you also got the energy ball joint boots. The aftermarket ones aren't know to last very long. Also some internal frame coating to stop it from rusting from the inside out, and make the inside of the frame as pretty as the rest of your ride! I also put zerk fittings in my ball joints. Costs 5$ in parts and takes 5 min each. It was extremely easy with the right tools and a ground down tap. That should make them last much much longer. Pics of mine on my gremlin link in my signature. Edited by Hogleg, Jul 29 2013, 06:44 PM.

I actually bought the polyurethane boots but forgot about them. Thanks for reminding me! And I was going to order up some of the Eastwood internal frame spray when I get some more cash freed up

![]() Sneak preview. Needs wet sanding though for that mirror like finish. Then some clear coat and then buffing. This thing will shine! |

be careful not to wet sand it with to fine of grit sandpaper and make to glossy before you clear coat it . because it won't stick to the color coat . looks good so far Jim .keep it up |

![]() F**k! Good thing this little bolt goes into the water pump and not the engine block! Looks like this engine is getting a new water pump. Probably needs one anyway. First thing I've broken on the project and it was on my first timing belt change ever. I guess it could have gone worse as far as timing belts go. Anyway, I've just been doing minor things getting ready to drop the engine in. It was too humid to paint today so I'll get to it tomorrow. |

Is that a heli-coil? Someone else had the same problem too. New water pump is Always a good idea anyway. Great work Jim!

No helicoil. Just my bad. The torque was only 8 ft lbs and I was cranking on it and the washer was squishing along with the little bracket so the torque wrench wasn't limiting correctly and as soon as the thought popped in my head, the thing snapped on me. I have a spare so it'll work out. |

You could always epoxy a stud in and use a washer and a nut. |

that bolt only goes into the water pump housing. if it was me, i'd throw the water pump away and buy a new one for $27. ![]() for m6 and most m8 bolts i never use a torque wrench. they are too long and it's way easy to snap those little bolts just like that. unless it is critical to torque a fastener to a certain spec, i just use a standard ratchet my popeye forearms to twist 'em until they feel good. ![]() wanna' paint my car? some guys have a flair for that work. i don't, it looks like you do.

This project is starting to make me feel bad about my project car. Things are coming together and looking sharp. Keep up the good workmanship. |
