It's a great day for painting! Still have to do the hood, the doors, and the hatch. Kinda getting sick of painting though.

I get tired of painting too, mostly because I paint in my garage with the windows/doors closed and no face mask :x

Tuner lugs came in, but we accidentally ordered the wrong size so it'll be a few days before the right size comes in. They fit really well and the ET style lug will grab more threads than the regular style so I feel pretty safe running these wheels.

Not much left in the project really. Once I get the engine dropped in I can get the front end all back together. I'm thinking 2 more weeks.

Does anyone know where I can get the screws to hold these rotors onto the hub?

You can probably get those screws at a gm dealer, but I got a few at pick n pull.

those are pretty much standard m6 x 1.0 x 10mm flat head phillips screws. i highly suggest that you use a2 stainless in that particular location with the threads doped up with never seize. those screws tend to rust into the hub fairly quickly and they are a pita to drill out and re-tap.

they were largely an assembly line aid to keep the rotors from falling off as the car moved down the line. they don't really serve any real purpose as the wheel lugs hold the rotor in place far better than the little screws.

i've run quite a few cars without them.

here's a tip. if you run a tap into the hub to clean those threads, don't go too deep or the tap will tear up the outer dust seal on the hub.

and here's another bit of insight. if you look at the other 2 holes in the rotor you'll see that they are threaded. those are a removal aid. the rotor hats tend to collect crap and rust between the rotor and hub which sort of bind the two. you can run hardened bolts into the threaded holes on the rotor to pop it loose when it sticks. it's slightly more civilized than wailing away at the rotor with a mallet. :P

Here is the head from my original XFi engine.

Oil pan was leaking so I took it off and decided to inspect the bottom end. Again, I can't afford to rebuild the bottom right now so there isn't much I can do down here.

The project pushes forward!

In other news, I'm rebuilding my hydraulic lifters. Three went smooth as butter but 3 I'm having trouble with.

3 of them are stuck. The pieces in the front row will not seperate. If anyone has any ideas let me know

I'm sorry to hear that. I have an extra 3 cyl head without a cam I'll give you if it helps. I live in Cleveland too. I just can't have a fellow member here stuck. I took it off of a PNP engine and grabbed the cam (to fix what I broke). PM me and we can meet.

This is how I left the car before closing up shop for the day. I've been spending my time just fixing up small nagging trim pieces and stuff. Nothing too exciting. I'm getting real close to a rolling chassis.

Threw some aluminum paint on the catalytic convertor. At least it'll look new. :rocker

Found why my passenger side headlight was dim. So I bypassed this connection right to chassis ground. Hopefully that fixes it and nothing goes up in flames. Haha

Test fitted my front brakes. I'm going to need 4 bolts to mount the calipers to the knuckles.

If anyone knows where I can get the bolts that the finger is pointing to in this picture, let me know.

Do you live near a fastenal? They might have a bolt that will work. I just got my gt hubs today, if I didn't have to wait till after geopalooza to put them on, I'd give you the one off my vert.

Too bad you wont be done and make it to geopalooza. I would love to see this car done! Never seen a brand new geo up close.

Scoobs- I was just thinking about that! I wanna focus on the mechanical stuff for now though.

It's getting closer! I'm thinking I'll drop the engine and transmission this weekend and then be done with the build by Thursday of next week. I have until the 26th for school so I'm ahead of schedule
