Good price for low mileage 94 Metro?

I've got a line on a pristine 5 speed 94 Metro with zero rust and 60,000 miles on it for $2100. All the Metros I've payed attention to in the past were much higher mileage so I'm not sure about the value. Is this a decent price?

The 94s had 6 digits on the odometer. So unless it was rolled back somehow........good find and in my opinion a good price, assuming good compression and great body.

Also depends on what they run for in your area.

Assuming its a very nice geo and does have 60k. It seems like a fair price.

Of course offer less $1700 or $1600.....or whatever you want

I actually got it for $1750 but need to spend $350 to fix a dent in the fender and make it perfect. I guess it's not a particularly good price but I didn't want to risk loosing it. I love this car and would like to drive it for another 5-10 years.

Calculate your average mpg in your current ride and annual miles driven. Then figure out your new mpg in your Geo Metro. The more miles you drive per year the quicker the car pays for itself.

Sounds good.

Unless you got a stack of repair tickets from the previous owner, you can assume that nothing beyond normal service was ever accomplished.

Still, a pretty good deal. Take care of it, and it will take care of you for many years.

:type Mechanical odometers unless completely sealed inside the instrument panel to prevent access can be rolled back to any desired reading in as little as 30 minutes. The best way to insure the shown millage is correct is to get a VIN CHECK done. AutoFax and similar services show when State safety and emissions inspections are preformed with mileage and dates recorded, dealers also do the same mileage report when a vehicle is serviced. There are areas for deception even with these reports. Especially with long term owners of vehicles. I personally have known a owner that would remove his odometer before each visit to a dealer for warranty service and before the annual safety/emissions inspections. He was driving about 15k miles a year but hes was rolling the odometer back before any visits that would record the mileage on his vehicle and only allowing 2500 miles a year to accumulate each year. He did a great job of keeping the entire care squeaky clean. :evillol After 5 years his vehicle showed 12,500 miles and not the 75k miles it actually traveled. In the end he sold the vehicle to a County Judge! 60k miles the vehicle had been driven had just vanished from this practice. I personal know that a Lincoln I owned that had a digital instrument panel could not be reset when the OE panel died the replacement had 000000 reading. The techs placed a sticker on the end of the door jamb indicating the mileage at which it had been replaced. But that was some years ago and most proubly is different between OEM's. There may be factory Tech's now that can adjust the odometer to any desired reading. :scared

Actually, never mind how much I drive... the insurance saving alone compared to what I would pay for a Prius C (the only other car I'd consider) will pay for the car in five years. Everything else is gravy.

KBB is completely useless for older cars.

Until they start offering money for vehicles, I could care less what they say the value is.

I think they said my geo was worth $400 in fair condition.
If I put it on craigslist right now for $400, my phone would be blowing up.

At the same time. I've seen where kbb is several thousand more than what a car is actually selling for.

A good tool for car dealers but not the average joe.

I've had a lot of doucher prius drivers acting like jackasses on the road. I don't understand it. This one earlier today was driving like a bat out of hell and then was riding my ass.

anyways, the difference in insurance will pay for the gas in your geo.

I would like to look at a first gen insight.....but people are still wanting too much for them. Up to $10k for a 11 year old car? No, thanks.

well KBB only accounts for physical value and not environmental value.

a 94 geo "IS" worth about $400 in fair condition. if you showed me any other simply hohum rust bucket flim flam sardine can 20mpg car from 1994 $400 is about what I would give you for it. Tops.

kbb does not account for the fact that the geo's special ability (insanely high mpg) combined with today's gasoline's special ability (to empty your bank account really fast) to create a special set of conditions that "artificially" inflates the value of the $400 94 sardine can death bucket (yes I SO LOVE my 94 sardine can death bucket and I aggressive practice defensive driving because I DO NOT WANT to find out what happens if someone hits me in it and the tracker is worse!! :-) hehehe

SO plop a geo amongst a ton of cars getting 50mpg and no one will even give you $400 for it.

Toss a geo amongst a bunch of expensive 20mpg 30mpg cars and you can pretty much ask whatever price you want.

kbb does not account for this because its "fickle"

try getting more than $600 for your geo when gas is $1.19 a gallon :-)

then see how EASY it is to get $2500 for it when gas is $5 a gallon :-)
