YEA cheap college kid route!!!!

If they start falling apart in a month, I would take them back.

Again, walmart shoes are so hit and miss. Hopefully yours is a hit.

Really can't go wrong with mil-spec. I just bought some 2001-ish surplus Bates "Intermediate Cold Weather" combat boots on Ebay a week or two ago.

Pretty comfy. Heavily reinforced toe, but not steel. Removable Gore-tex booties for extra warmth! Waterproof! Slip-resistant! They were $46 shipped to my door.

If they are good enough for guys getting shot at, they are good enough for anything I would use them for.

Brand new with tags and box. I like the custom fitting you get with combat boots, too. I have wide feet, and it is nice to be able to order a 9 XW instead of just the sizes Walmart or someplace else has. Be sure to order a size or so SMALLER than you usually wear, unless you also wear big thick wool socks. Normally, I wear a size 10 but in combat boots I try to shoot for a 9 or 9.5.

I got 3+ years of use out of my last pair, wearing them hard. I think they were 2003 Wellco Temperate Weather boots.

Brahma's usually lasted me a year, a tip for those boots, go ahead and get them sealed with mink oil or bees wax, the Brahma's I used to get where not water proof. Also you are going to need some insoles to make them jokers halfway comfortable.

I wear Walmart boots changing oil. I generally get about 6 months out of them. Its the oi and degreaser that kills them. Everything will be fine, but the bottoms will fall apart.

That degreaser is no joke.......

They always told us a jug of that costed $30 (which I don't believe). They ever tell you that?

I have Herman survivors, one pair is my non steel toe hunting boots and one pair is steel toe work boots and with some Dr Sholes back pain insoles they wear comfortable.

Should be somewhere in your budget insoles and boots can be got at wall fart
Yeah I wear these too. Hi tops. They are steel toe, water proof, insulated. Chem resistant. And comfortable when you put them on. I use mine in a carbon plant. Carbon is hard on everything. Guys here wear the Red Wings. But mine last longer. And they are only about $56. :thumb

:popcorn Yup ,yup. I use to wear those and slobbered them in mink oil. I had someone tell me if you dropped something heavy on my foot the steel toe ensured my toes were removed instantly. :whistle

I think an episode of mythbusters proved that and I quit wearing steel toe. I now wear either arthortic crocks or dr schols shoes in the yellow box at wal mart in size 14.

CB, if you wear the Brahamas on concrete floors for extended periods of time, be prepares for hemorrhoids. Yes pressure on your souls could promote butt aches. Get some good inserts, at least.

They proved otherwise.

I wear them, steel toes/composite toes, cause dropping something small like a can of soup from the top of a 6 ft shelf, hurts like hell. Also dropped a trailer tongue on my pinky toe...

Plus, working as maintenance the steel toes allow me to knock mud off my boots before tracking dirt into residents homes.

Not too worried about a load crushing the steel and cutting my toes off.
