Forged Pistons Anybody?

First off, I would just like to thank everyone for helping me pick the right components for my Geo Metro rebuild from a previous thread...especially Johnny Mullet. As of late, I've been able to track down an XFI engine. It's high mileage whereas it's most likely going to need to be remanufactured. My question is, how do you guys feel about light weight forged pistons as a possible option to my XFI rebuild? Would there be any benefit to adding more MPG's? Additionally, would flat top pistons of the same variety provide the same benefits? Thank You.

Standard and oversize 3 ring pistons and rings are readily available. That's my recommendation.

There are forged pistons out there that will fit, with modifications or not. By the time you get it figured out which ones, and what needs to be modified, you'll have the engine overhauled and running with regular pistons.

Good luck.

I see, so what you are saying is more headaches with attempting to find the right specs. In that case, what can over-sized piston heads do for MPG?
