What is the best way to clean the engine and trans while it is still in the vehicle? I have a pressure washer but what works well to help break up the grease? I have simple green that works good on most stuff. What have any of you tried?

I use to work at an old mustang restoration shop and when we did the cheap resto (I do not believe in a cheap resto btw, go big or go home :drivin ) my boss would remove everything possible from the engine Alt, plug wires, pulleys, belts, just anything that would be in the way. then we would use purple power spray it down let it sit and then take a scrub brush and went to town. after a few times the engine will be spic and span. Now obviously take it as far as you want to get it clean thats just my $ 0.02

If you use a pressure washer, DO NOT hit any electrical connections, or the distributor. You can kill your car doing that, I wouldn't recommend it. Sponge/Scour pad/Goop degreaser/ Dawn+water worked well for me

Warm the engine. Cover all electrical connections: TPS, distributor, etc. Soak the engine in purple power for a few minutes, then pressure wash it off.
