Well, one thing's for certain; if the trajectory of this meteor, somehow, managed to go terribly wrong, sending it hurtling toward earth, it would likely break up - into two pieces, as it entered the earth's atmosphere, with on chunk headed to Alaska, as it slams into Hanuman's carport, crushing it and his Metro underneath it. The other chunk would head for Alabama, where it would slam into the side of Desmond's car. The good news is, all the rest of us, and Metro's, would be safe, and Mullet would have pic's of both crushed vehicles as this month's featured vehicles on the home page. |

Only reason the asteroid might change direction is if it hit something. Something like a geostationary comsat. Gravity has been taken into account buy the people tracking this thing, and it is going far to fast to fall into a decaying orbit around earth and fall to the ground. What pisses me off, is it's RIGHT THERE, and nobody wants to go up there and mine it. I don't know the size of this one, but a one kilometer nickel iron asteroid has enough metal in it to completely change the word's economy. |

Oops, my bad. It will be closer than the geosynchronous satellites. They're at 22K miles, it will come to 17K miles. |

How much mining are you going to get done in the 24 hours that it is nearby? It's traveling 17.5K mph, by the time you got any mining done you'd be a year away. |

speaking of asteroid mining, the new company that's planning such things has placed the value of this particular asteroid at $19 billion based on projected water and metal content. also, there is new video of a fireball that passed over and then crashed into russia. it is suspected to be a companion traveler of this asteroid with a closer earth crossing pass. standby, there may be more today. |

Please explain to me how you plan on getting the energy to send mining equipment, people, food, etc. Into space, not to mention the energy it would take to mine and then send back the ore. Same thing gets me about aliens. Sure, they exist but people don't understand the insane amount of time it takes to travel from one galaxy to another. And the giant cruise ships and fleets in movies. Humans don't have It in them to build such things. And there is no way something so heavy could escape earths gravity. Think about how much thrust it took for the space shuttle alone. |

Thrust? You are doing it wrong, its about folding space and time around you, not moving you around space and time.

That was crazy. I just saw some videos on the news of the russian metor. Blew windows in and some walls and tons of people were injured from the windows shattering and flying at them. |
