Hi all, I am trying to help my brother with his 96 Geo Metro 1.0L . he recently overheated the car. Since then It is very hard to start and will not idle when running it runs rough.
The only error code it gives is P0113 which is IAT sensor Voltage High. Any pointers on determining it the engine is totally trashed. I have checked the engine oil there is no contamination from coolant. The original cooling leak was fixed. My Bro just had a new timing belt and waterpump put on. The Coolant tube that fits into the back of the waterpump was missing the o-ring the center support bracket on the pipe broke off some where in the distant past. it is only supported by the end tube bracket. I have found no other oil or coolant leaks. this has over 150,000 miles on it. If possible just want to return this car to its former smooth reliable operation.

Check the compression.

Overheating an engine is not good.

These engines are not too forgiving to running them hot as some engines are. Running a thinner oil may assist slightly. Was the timing belt put on after running it hot? Maybe you have the timing off and thats whats causing the hard start.
