Compression test results

Hi All,
I've recently had the valves for my '95 geo re-done and wanted to make sure everything was running fine after putting it all back together.
I rented a compression tester and ran the test solo(the tester had a oneway valve which held the preasure so i could turn the engine then read the dial)
I got the following.
--dry--
#1 140 psi
#2 142 psi
#3 145 psi
--wet--
#1 150
#2 165
#3 160

Are these good results? or do they show some problems?
The car seems to run fine after i had it timed with 8' advance.

Let me know
Thanks!
Oliver

Perfectly fine. Your problem now is why didn't you put a new set of rings on while you had the head off?

Fastest Hampster EVER

Did you have the gas pedal floored when testing? That is the best way to test the compression.

The numbers are ok. Not spectacular. You car will run fine, but as with any metro, the longer it runs with lower numbers, the closer to 150 it becomes. How many miles on this engine? Most metros need a rebuild around the 135K mileage, unless it was made on a Wednesday with a trailing full moon. (one in a hundred thousand)

If I were advising you, unless the car is undriveable, your numbers will be fine for another year. But keep an eye on them, because once your car starts to stall at stop signs or redlights, you will need a head job.

Hmmmm, rereading your post, seems that you had new valves put in............With numbers that low, I would think that your rings are giving up the ghost. You should have higher numbers and the only thing I can think of that would give low numbers after a valve job would be worn rings. Do you see blue smoke out of the tail pipe?

Questions, questions, question..........sorry for asking so many questions.

@Coche Blanco. I didn't think of doing that till after reading some posts on here.(I've since learned it pays to read ahead)
@dayle1960 Yes i floored gas while testing. I had the engine rebuilt around 130k miles. I currently have 188k miles on the engine. I was kinda thinking i might need new rings after i did the test. I was thinking that when i get to 200K or at the end of the summer(which ever comes first) i'd take it apart and get some new rings in. I haven't seen any smoke.

Thanks for the quick responses
