The best way to determine what size bearings to buy is to take the engine apart and measure.

The Factory Service Manual has information for the main bearings.

There is no information in there about the rod bearings and dimensions of the big end of the rod or the thickness of the rod bearings.

I can help you with your selection once you get some measurements.

i found the numbers here: http://geometroforum.com/topic/2958682/1/

Looks like my crankshaft main and rod journals are good to go with standard bearings from the info I found there.

Main journals are 1.771 measured twice 90 degrees from the first to make sure the journals are still round.

Rod journals are 1.653 measured twice like above.

I'm about to the same point. I've read in some other posts where only Suzuki or GM bearings should be used. Is this right, or are there some other brands out there that will work as well?

Measuring with a caliper?

Try it with a micrometer. It makes a difference.

Standard rod journal size is 1.6529" - 1.6535".

Standard main journal size is 1.7710" - 1.7716".
