Bought a geo metro last week for $400 and it had a tick. Well dropped the pan today and found large metal pieces. They look like aluminum and part of a piston or something. Could someone verify what the metal is and maybe so e advice and what to do next. I'm pretty sure that if it is piston chunks that ima need to pull the head an tr block out and have it rebored. Here's an image of the metal chunks.

More like your engine is dead or WILL be dead if you keep running it like this. Either consider a rebuild or find an engine out of a junker. Sure, it might run like this but you risk blasting a rod through the side of the block and then the engine is essentially done for except for bolt on parts like the head that could be salvaged, reused, or rebuilt. Yeah, I thought the same thing about those being described as "large metal shavings". I would describe that as metal pieces or metal chunks. I guess you had to remove the oil pan to get those out as I can't see them fitting through the drain plug. You should be able to look up underneath with the oil pan off and see clearly which piston(s) have parts of their skirts missing. Conor |

You might get lucky and find the cylinders OK as long as it is not knocking right now. |

If those are large metal shavings, I don't want to see large metal chunks... |
