Just saw these and HAVE to have one! Got me thinking about my buddy that has a whole room full of them in his house. He takes them apart and modifies/paints them. People pay him good to build them! Anyone else have a ton of these things? Here is my huge lot... The GN is my fave! ![]() Not sure how I found this but this is a DUMB video of a guy showing the Hot Wheels SVO... SVU??? '94??? What!!! I like those turbo. My dad has a few hundred. We have a first year hotwheel. Believe its a 68. Its worth a bit. My dad and i sold some around the early 2000s. The ones that sold were the classic muscle cars. We would get $3 for each. I dont have any where i live but man i love hotwheels! If/when i have a boy. He will have tons of hotwheels. plus they are still cheap. I remember them being about .90 in the 90s and now they are around $1.00 Dano, how does your friend modify them? |

I've bought a couple of hundred for my son while he was very young. He isn't into them now, bummer. But I will keep them because one day they will be worth something, (like my old base ball card collection I had as a kid). Kick myself in the head every day because I gave them away or threw them away!!!! ARGH, hindsight, you blind me constantly!!! |

I collect match box models of hybrid vehicles. I have both the Insights and Prius in all the colors. Target sells them as soon as they are out.

They sell out on matchbox? I was never a matchbox guy. They seemed like a cheaper/crappier version of hotwheels. Weren't they usually all plastic? |

I could say the very same thing about hot wheels. Most of the hot wheels I see are futuristic vehicles never seen before. Match box has mainly road equipment and stock model of everyday vehicles. I came all over myself when I found the Smart right in the middle of the toy section.

A while back i modded them, made several concepts, using parts from a bunch of cars, and jb weld. Lol. Been a while, A very good friend of mine had thousands of them, all collector cars, erroneous models, and a bunch of treasure hunts. He lost everything a few years back when his parents house caught on fire and burnt the whole upstairs and attic. Sucked :/ |

matchbox was the one that had the springs wheels so that when you pressed down on them the axles wouldn't bend resulting in crooked wheels. they were also more details and always had the car's info on the bottome of it. hot wheels were more designed to be played with by younger children, they were sturdier and didn't break as easily, but were less detailed and had easily bent axles. |

Yea I would agree about the futuristic hotwheels. I was never a fan of those. Thought they were dumb. and often, they were all plastic. |

I have at least 500 in a box in my closet. All from 1970-2001 or so. Mostly Matchbox or Tomica, a few late 1980s Hot Wheels too |

I'm curious to know how you take them apart , I used to work in the Mattel model shop and as far as I know they are almost riveted on . Do you drill the rivet out and then how do you rejoin the body to the chassis ? As far as collecting them ? YES I have a very nice collection of employee cars and special holiday cars and a few shop concepts. |

Sweet! Just won 3 SVOs on ebay for CHEAP! I need to get some pics of the ones my buddy does. Yea, he drills the rivets out and goes from there. I remember a '69 Camaro he did for a guy... Took the nice looking "big and littles" and engine off of a top fuel dragster and put it all into the Camaro and air brushed it silver. In the end it was slammed, tubbed out and blown with a crazy nice paint job. Looked awsome! He might be getting an SVO soon!

I paid for my 1953 Chevy truck rehab on sales of my Hot wheels red-strips I saved from 1967-1973. Some of them went for around $300.00. I still have about 100 of them in a box. I use to get one from Shell every time Mom or Dad put gas in the car . |

You must be referring to the RedLine . Yea those can fetch a pretty penny some can be worth a few thousands on ebay..but that's if you are a die hard collector like the guy to dropped $72000 on a 1969 Pink Rear-Loading Volkswagen Beach Bomb prototype.
