the other day i stopped off at the grocery store to pick up a few items...( no, this is not another "grope" story.. )
i purchased a few items, walked to the car, set the bags on the ground and opened the hatch.
i pushed the hatch up then reached down to pick up the bags. as i was raising up, F*#&IN POW!!!!
my head snapped back, i felt pain and saw fireflies..i knew something wasnt right because we dont have fireflies
in colorado, and it was daytime. WTF!!

the lift supports are weak and let the hatch close about half way down. this is like the third time ive done this,
and i have had enough of this shit.

i called a buddy of mine that works at Advance Auto. he looked up the parts and told me he could get them
within a day or two. i said do it.

he called me yesterday and said they were in. i got the "good guy" discount $14.99 a piece.

pretty straight forward, old ones out...new ones in.

wow, what a difference. the new ones actually push the hatch all the way up.
no more bruised forehead...glad i spent the money.

About time you started fixing the small things on your whip. It's the metro gods getting even with you for every time you cussed the mighty metro.

Good job.

I replaced mine a few years ago and now they're too good! Before they had to be helped up but now I have to hold the hatch or jump out of the way because it opens so fast and its hard as hell to close.

I cut a 3/4 inch PVC pipe diagonally so it snaps onto the shaft... It holds it up really well and was free, and mine are easy to open :-)

@smallblock: It's just a scratch. Buff it with a little 60 grit and it'll be invisible. :D Been there, got the scar. :smackface

I squeezed the upper end of the tube where the plunger stops with vise grips a tad, now it just sticks a bit in the full up position.
I'll get new ones if I can hack in the cable release I have.
