You did it the hard way and it will leak soon and your exhaust will be noisy. You should go buy a new one now. Might not have been as bad either if you had used a thin bladed die grinder and made straight cuts instead of the cutting torch or plasma cutter. Very hard to make suffient welds on rough edges like that. Not being critical, just telling the truth.

The first pictures were kind of decieving. The metal looked big enough to be the size of a car hood.
Nah, I did it the fun way <G>. Will leak soon? Hell, it leaks now! Still, much better than listening to the cat rattle around like that. If I start hearing the leak I will pull it back off and fix/replace.

Are you saying (from your other post) that I can just use glass on this to seal the bad welds?

Last clue. If no one guesses by tomorrow morning I will spill the beans. I figure someone will have it when they see this:

looks like some sort of honey comb material and judging from the picture involving the shield looking thing and knowing what i know about cars and honeycombs i think i have it.

it must be a bee shield to deflect bees up and over your car when you drive at them.

I think the exhaust is stinky now. I'm not sure how that little bit of cat was helping anything but I think it was.

exhaust gets stinky when cats go bad, but they aren't stinky when there's no cat at all. it's the failing cat that makes it stinky.

Yes, very confused. I can definitely smell something. I would say it was the lack of a cat but that goes against reasoning. I could say it is an exhaust leak but that doesn't make any sense either. I can say with 100% certainty that the problem did not exist last week.

Maybe it has something to do with your welding and dissimilar metals. Once it gets hot enough for a while it will probably go away. I have smelled new exhaust right after installation that took a little time to burn off.
