timing/idle speed tutorial?

Are you fairly sure that the throttle stop screw is barely touching the link before the plate completely closes?

I am not familiar with the adjustment of the plunger stop screw never having had to adjust it but that could be causing it if it was played with previously in an attempt to cure a problem of too low idle.

Have you done the spray/leak check all around the EGR? Does the diaphragm move when you goose the throttle?

If the ISC stop was messed with then you might need to re-mess.

Yes the EGR operates with throttle opens/closes, i checked the valve when it was off, and reinstalled with a new gasket. If I open the EGR by sucking on the diaphragm I get little change in idle, I think because the idle is too high. I know the ports are open now exhaust/intake, I checked with a bore scope. The EGR DTC sets after you accelerate to speed and let off the throttle. I tried to adjust the ISC stop both ways all the way it does not change idle, the ISC just compensates. Where is the coolant temp switch for the computer on the upgraded emissions? I would like to test. Also could a faulty MAP do both of these issues?

I have 2; one next to the fan switch on the thermostat housing, and one on the lower right of the throttle body (but I think that is for A/C ).

Not sure about MAP.
Have you tested vacuum?

engine idles better for high idle but does not idle down at temp, looking at ECT resistive probe in TB. any one know what the output should read at temp?

The output reads .14V no matter what the temp, going for new probe. I should get a picture of the car in the hanger for ya, It's parked 3 feet from the tail of a cessna citation.
