So guilt by association.

So, what if the driver of your car gets into a wreck and kills someone.....Does that mean you are liable too?

this is going to freak you out but apparently in some places its possible that the answer to this is actually YES !!!

How freaking scary is that.

I fucking HATE red light cameras. I can't believe they are even legal, they are such a miscarriage of the judicial system. If you have to pay it, pay it in pennies...

It does not matter what you think or do...the vehicle is "registered" with your name, once you register a road machine it becomes the property of the state and until they are satisfied with the amount of tax levied upon you they will block you from getting a registration renewal for said vehicle ...

that is right geogonfa. most people do not realize that titling a vehicle is actually giving up legal ownership of the vehicle to the state.

the certificate of origin (actual TITLE to the vehicle) is required to be surrendered to the state you are literally giving the state your vehicle they OWN IT.

they do not give you a title in return. they give you a "certificate of title" the state retains actual true ownership of the vehicle and this is how they are able to force you to register it tag it insure it all the DL bull crap etc.. etc.. and how they can abscond with it and sell it at auction.

because THEY actually own it.

Same with property taxes on your home. Don't pay those and find out who really owns the house you live in.

Of course, if you knowingly lend your car to a drunk, you are liable, anywhere. It is a deadly weapon.
Presumably some states carry that to the extreme, in that you should have made sure no one else could drive it, like locking up your gun. So if someone stole it (joy ride/"borrowed") the onus is on you to prove it. Nice.

We just got the red light cameras here in Richmond Tri Cities and surround areas. Theres one a block away from the harbor freight near where I live. The local tv news channel is against them and says they carry no points and if you decide to fight it the cioty drops it as its not legal to begin with.

Basically it is triggered if you roll through a right on red. So to defeat it you need to stop in front of the line on the road for a second, then go when its clear unless it has a no turn on red sign somewhere behind a bush. Is it says stop here on red its likely a no turn on red situation.

I typically dont turn on red if I see a cop at one of the other 3 intersections and if the guy behind me honks I wave him around me. :whistle

This may or may not help but last year on the news here in washington they were doing a report on red light cameras and speed traps and they said they're owned by private parties and there's no law forcing you to pay those tickets and there's nothing they can do about it and that it won't go on your record. Perhaps that is just washington but it's certainly worth looking into. They were also talking about the dangers of red light cameras and how they were considering removing several of them in certain areas because they've caused so many accidents already. They said there's technically no witness so the ticket is not legit, basically.

We have cameras here in AZ and they capture the driver's face too. 3rd Party company runs them and some fight the system in this way:

Tickets get delivered either by mail, or in person. I have friends say they just don't answer their door, and one has said they had their front door open and a security screen door locked... guy knocking while the whole family is in view at the dining table. Father just whispered "Don't look towards the door and keep eating". After 90 days I believe, the ticket is null and void. Can't be 'proven' you received it. Mail gets lost all the time, and with no hand off, no delivery proof.

I have a coworker who's friend works for law enforcement, and she got one in the mail and sent it right through the shredder.

Obviously, if you have approached the court, you have shown receipt, and are probably obligated. Oklahoma sucks balls. I hear you can get the death penalty for possessing too much marijuana. Country Hick Twisterville State... good luck.

This is correct, unless the mail is sent to you CERTIFIED, and you sign for the letter, how is anyone suppose to know you got the letter.

The first thing most people do upon receiving a infraction in the mail, is call up and complain about it. Thus letting everyone know they got the letter in the mail. The 3rd party enforcement arm has 90 days to clear up the outstanding ticket, or it has to be tossed out.

Sooo, the lesson for today is, if you get a ticket in the mail and you did not sign for it, TOSS, SHRED and BURN it, just to be on the safe side.

So since it is property of the state, why don't they have to pay the ticket?

I have not received one of these; but my friend that did said it was analogous to a parking ticket--not a moving violation, no points off; and the fine was lower than if you had been ticketed by an officer.
I expect if someone else is driving your car you still get stuck with the parking ticket.
One time I received in the mail a notice of a "unpaid" parking ticket for the car at a date/time when I knew the car was in another city. I went to the Municipal building and said it was impossible and they said I did not have to pay the ticket. My point is some people fight parking tickets; however' some municipalities make it much more of a hassle than it is worth. If you have to take off work to fight it then you might as well pay it.
How much was the fine for? any points off?

i know there are some places where you can outright own your property, as in you completely own your land and house. i think there's one somewhere in texas, but it's out in the country if i remember correctly.
