Who do you think is gonna win? wait, didn't Danica Patrick already win it? thats what the media makes it seem. She is so damn overrated. I have no idea who is gonna win, its probably gonna be a hendrick, roush, rcr, gibbs car. Watching the busch race and I see nascar has kept the smaller grills.....great! (sarcasm) Now every half a lap the drivers will have to back off. Why does nascar think that is good? |

She's not that overrated... She is the only female out there and she just proved she is just as good if not better than most of the guys. |

By running on a track with no competitors. That does not show you are as good or better than most of the guys. She is very overrated. There are several drivers out there with less than 5 wins that don't get talked about as much as she does. There have been several other women in nascar. She gets more coverage than gordon, stewart, harvick, johnson, busch, Keselowski (you know, last years champ). She wasn't even good in IRL. Look at the stats. 1 win for here whole IRL career. 1 win in 7 years!!!! Average finish over her career in IRL was about 10th.....they have about 25 drivers.... In the nationwide series she has 0 wins in almost 60 races. Her average finish is about 20th place. Her first year in the sprint cup (only 10 races) she had NO top 10s, led 0 laps. Her average finish was 28th position. Let me be clear. She can win the Daytona 500. It is a crapshoot at the end. Trevor Bayne won it and he isn't good.....but she will never be good in the sprint cup |

Danica is highly over rated. Takes near zero skill to drive a car at Daytona/Talladega, especially on a Q lap. All up to the Car. Gets all the attention because she's cute and has serious sponsorship. Race is going to be absolutely nothing like it has been in the last few years. The 2 car tandem is gone and passing the leader is very difficult. Handling plays a major part this year as well since they are running a brant new car and are still learning about it. Hard to go against Kevin Harvick #29. He's dominated both races he's been in. |

I just wish they would get rid of the gen cars. Let a Ford look like a Ford, a Chevy look like a Chevy........Heck isn't this suppose to be a "stock" car race? Back in the day you would roll a car off the showroom floor and throw a roll bar in it, then take it to the track and race. Now every single car looks alike and the only "stock" part about it is the roof. That is a bunch of crap. If Chevy built a car which smoked the competition, then it is upon the competition's shoulders to build a better car. NASCAR has become just like soccer. Football is going that way also. We need a revolt in America which will set things back to the way it should be. Not panty wasting "improvements" which give everybody a fair shot at winning. Heck, if you want to win, then build a better mouse trap or get better with your abilities. |

That statement right there is really ridiculous. On what authority do you base it on? |

I feel for ya...I used to enjoy NASCAR when I was a kid ('60s and '70s)...back when the cars looked like real cars you saw on the street, and people actually could modify them a bit. In those days, for a car to be able to run in NASCAR, it had to actually be a car that was available to the general public. This led to various low-production cars designed especially for racing, built in numbers just sufficient to make them legal under NASCAR rules. On the other hand, racing in those days was much more hazardous. Every year, several drivers would be killed. When was the last time a NASCAR driver was killed in a race? It's become much safer for the driver, which is good. And with standardized cars, it becomes much more a contest of skill between the drivers. But...with the sameness of all the cars, and the fact that they are mostly rolling billboards, I've totally lost interest. |

The fact that I've driven a COT on Talladega at 174.55mph. Please tell me what experience you have in any racecar. Thanks!

Really is as simple as, floor it, turn left, & hold on. I realize that you might want to try and debate that: Let me recommend this: don't try on this one. I'll literally run circles around you on the topic at hand. Edited by z34-5speed, Feb 23 2013, 11:16 PM.

More comparable with qualifying runs. Point being, is that at Talladega & Daytona it is more of a chess game and pure luck rather than actual driving talent. Brakes are not used in race condition and holding a line isn't exactly difficult. |
