So I've started working at Coke, and I've been driving my truck more because I "can afford" it now. Before, I was living off of my savings from working at Pizza Hut. I filled up my truck with 77 dollars worth of gas a week and a half ago, that really hurt, but I didn't think much about it. 300 miles later, I filled it up with 74 dollars worth of gas. Needless to say, that hurt, and I parked that gas guzzling SOB.

Sounds like my truck except 400 to 450 miles later I am filling up with diesel at $4 a gallon with $136 each time. My poor Metro is down so no fuel savings here I am working my arse off trying to get it going. First got I pulled engine out 96 now time to implant the 93 one in. Plus 96 needs tie rods as I felt registration inspection seats headlight bezels that match and damn head job from 3tech that will help me climb 6% and greater mountains.

When I was paying 20 cents for a gallon of gas I was making 75 cents an hour.

to be comparable now you would have to pay 4.00 a gallon while making a wage of $15..............

yeah it seem expensive, only because it remained so low for so long..........

It costs me about $35 to fill up my Metro. I only drive it for work. My employer pays me for gas, and with the mileage this car gets I actually MAKE money driving it. Meaning extra money in my pocket. For every $1 my employer pays me for gas, I only spend about $0.55...even when gas is expensive.

This allows me a bit more cash to drive my 14 MPG 4Runner or my 8 MPG, 460-powered F250 on my days off and not sweat it too much. Costs about $60 to fill the truck or the 'Runner.

And remember..."It's Bush's fault!"

Thats what I do also on the weekends. Drive my 4Runner. I put a antique tag on it so I never have to buy another tag for it but it can only be driven on the weekends. Which is fine with me because thats all I can afford to drive it.

I am the one on the left.

I put my boat away half full- when gas prices dropped earlier- I watched it like a hawk. I bought 30 gals of premium when it was down to 2.52 a few short months ago, came home and filled that big block olds 455 jet boat full- my jet is a jacuzzi yj that has the energizer kit, and been converted to run Berkley parts- I have enough horses that when the time comes to replace the impeller, it will be a step up to the AA impeller, and put on an inducer. I also run a fine tune nozzle on my place divert-er-- may be some tuning there too

I have some seat of the pants hull shot- and a grin a minute. Take it down to my cabin on the lake and play.
While I was disbelieving the low price of gas, I grabbed another 30 gallons and filled my 1 ton dually.
Then, when I figured I'd grab some gas for the metro, a guy was filling up and he had a 1 dollar off per gallon coupon he was using, so I got $20.00 worth of gas at 1.52/gallon. It was sweet- especially since he didn't stop pumping until my 3rd gas can was full- so he basically gave me a few gallons free- I offered to write him a check for the difference b/c I never have more than 20 in my wallet (kids- you know), and he was as gracious as can be. I think he to was pleased as a pig in poop to be filling up his car at that price.

I never adjusted my gas budget down for the drop in fuel prices- so i don't have to adjust it back up either.
