According to the chart at that temperature you should be around 3500 ohms. What is your car doing?

I would replace the sensor. Take a hair dryer and warm the iat up and see what your values do.

Blue Rhino thanks for the help. Other than that the car runs fine. I have to get the check engine lite off so I can get it Calif smog. I am hopping it is the IAT sensor. I appreciate the advise

Do this first, disconnect the wiring harness from the sensor. Connect your voltmeter to the wiring harness and turn the switch on and see how many volts you are getting to it.

You still need a sensor if that value is correct.

Heat it with the hair dryer and check it, then stick it in the freezer and then test it and see what you get.

We will see what to do after you see if you have 4 volts or not. If you have 4 volts, replace the sensor.

i wouldnt buy a new sensor for 20 some dollars when you can put in a 680 ohm resistor and be fine for 1$. just my 2 cents.

He could probably get a good one at the junkyard for next to nothing or one from a forum member for nothing more than shipping cost. Everyone is not into modding. Of course if he is, then he can do it. The resistor provides a fixed value and does not operate as the iat is designed to operate. Just so you know if you choose to use the resistor.
