After changing my timing belt the other day do I need to be concerned about the ignition timing with the distributor changing a bit? If so, does it typically advance or retard some with a new snug belt?

If the belt is on correctly it will not affect ign timing enough to worry about. If you want to check it with a light go for it. If it has moved a lot you are out a tooth on the cam timing.
