My Question Is: As Long as Engine is @ TDC the engine should Start Right? Here is what happened, I was Changing out the water pump and Dumb Ass Me didn't check if I was at TDC before I pulled off the Timing belt. When I did this the cam spun, so I made sure that cam was at TDC and that Number one Piston was TDC Compression and reinstalled water pump and timing belt. now the engine should start up right? I haven't tryed it yet cause it has been kinda wet here lately and I don't have a garage so I have to wait On weather. One More question, is it ok to try to start the engine without the belts on it as long as I don't run it to long. This way I can find out if it will start before putting it all back together.

You can be assured if your timing marks are right it will start. Use your timing marks. Align the mark on the crank gear to the engine block and the cam gear to the cam cover notch. Put the belt on and adjust tension. Rotate engine around a couple of times and realign the timing marks. If they are still where they should be it will start. |

As BR says rotate the engine a couple of times to make sure you are still lined up, if so you are golden. Keep in mind that the crank and the cam do not spin at the same rate so the timing marks will only line up every other rotation (2 rotations on the crank). |
