Hi everyone, I'm in serious need of a replacement radiator for a 1997 metro Lsi. Automatic transmission I see a lots of different ones, from thickness to core material, which one is the best, (that also won't break the bank.) I'm floating around this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/APDI-Radiator-8011732-/380521025503?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1997%7CMake%3AGeo%7CModel%3AMetro&hash=item5898d20fdf&vxp=mtr (note that ACTUAL PRODUCT MAY VARY) and this (recommended also by autozone): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Spectra-Premium-Industries-Inc-CU1732-Radiator-/360611665792?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1997%7CMake%3AGeo%7CModel%3AMetro&hash=item53f6215780&vxp=mtr I've also heard of CSF, Not sure about them |

Is that true that I'll need a new cap with the radiator? |

The Spectra Premium radiators are good. They fit well. Rock Auto has pretty good prices. Aluminum core with plastic tanks. I got a radiator from Advance Auto Parts. Copper core and tanks. $135, but after an online coupon from retailmenot.com, the out the door price was $103. Lifetime warranty, and free shipping. Perfect fit. If you ever need a replacement, go to Advance Auto. They'll get you one in a couple of days. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_radiator-ready-rad_19920016-p?navigationPath=L1*14922%7CL2*15022%7CL3*15952 |

for what its worth, a copper core radiator will conduct heat and cool better than aluminum. its a proven fact that copper is better for a radiator. but in a metro it wouldnt matter a whole lot. now if your talking about a big block chevy or ford, and it has a blower on it, yes the more power the more BTU's it makes. and cooling has to be at a maximum, you should go copper, the griffin radiators dont cool as well as a copper one, dont ask me how i know, but i proved it with conduction numbers and formula's and a infrared camera. for a metro it will work fine. ron |
