I need some assistance trying to track down why my engine won't run after it's at operating temp. It will start fine and run fine until it reaches operating temps. Then it starts to stumble, dies and will not restart until it's cold again. I replaced the coolant temp sensor that is in the throttle body, as well as checked the sensor wires and cleaned the connector. *The coolant is new and it is full. I burped the system when I first started the car after rebuild. Just wondering what are some other things I can check to figure out my problem. I've heard about the fuel return line failing and causing this. Does it just fail along the rubber hose? Thanks |

No, that was my next thing to check. I get paid soon so I'll have to rent a tester. Is not enough pressure the only thing that could fail with the pump? |

Is your MAP sensor hooked up correctly? Any exhaust coloration at idle, or 2000rpm? A fuel pressure tester is a good idea, I rented one from O'rileys and got the test numbers. Should run around 20-25 psi, and it shouldn't drop when you accelerate or massively spike. If it drops: Change fuel filter. Check again, If it still drops, check pump voltage/ change pump Check fuel pressure regulator If it sharply spikes: Check for blockages or kinks in the return line, you should be able to blow into it and hear bubbling or air coming out in your gas tank Also: This may be a bad exhaust valve. They sometimes exhibit this symptom. You may want to check compression just to cover that too. Your coil could be getting hot. Once it dies, immediately check for spark Take your gas cap off and try again Edited by Reista, Mar 17 2013, 12:25 AM.
