So basically you were driving it with one plug disconnected?

It was not disconnected, but broken internally and after trying to pull the wire, the center came out.

Oh yeah! Compression test numbers on a G13BB with 190,000 miles on the clock.........

#1 - 180 PSI
#2 - 175 PSI
#3 - 160 PSI
#4 - 185 PSI

I assume #3 might come back up some after it runs in some more while actually firing, regardless I am happy with those numbers. Before doing the test I also adjusted the valves using the info from this thread............

They were not bad. This was..............

Those #'s are pretty much the same as they were 50K miles ago, nice. Engine has had Mobile One and a PureOne filter every 5K all it's life. I replaced those wires, I think it was around 120K, can't be certain.

See, compression test sole everything...even if it is noticing that the spark plug wires are bad in the process of the test... :thumb

Finally got to go meet up with PA Metro and get a fender. Last time I was there, I found a red car with a perfect fender and the matching pinstripe, but for some reason on this visit, that fender had a HUGE dent in it like a deer ran into it or something :shit

I did find another fender that was the same color with a pinstripe on another car but it was in really poor shape with a lot of fading and paint chips. After searching some more, I found a pair of wildfire red fenders in good shape that were already off the car, but no pinstripe. I decided to install the fender after fixing it a little and decided to re-stripe the car with black vinyl electrical tape......

Now that I like the look, I might just find some actual wide, black pinstripes and redo the car.

Just another wrench.

I love these restorations! Good Job Johnny. It looks like metro reborn! I like it.

Johnny Do you know if I can use the 1995 bumper on a 1998 without modification? I had a hit-n-run and I want/need a new bumper. I like the 1995 guppy mouth with extra blinkers. If you have any info I could use it for the choice! Thanks.

The 95 bumper will bolt right on no problem.

http://geometroforum.com/topic/4720265/1/ - Reference link for valve adjustment this weekend.

I already posted this on another thread so I will update this.........

First off, the Magnum Metro had a SuperTrapp muffler on it from the previous owner, but it rotted out and it had to go..................

Posted Image

I got the idea from GeoStalker's daughter's 93 Metro, but there is a lot less room to work with on a 95+ model. I used 2" piping to match the rest of the 2" custom pipe and made a y-pipe.............

Posted Image

Made another section of pipe and test fitted.................

After everything fit right, I welded all the pipes together and added the tips............

This car is equipped with a glasspack where the resonator usually sits, it the car is louder, but not horribly loud. If anyone wants to do a similar mod, I suggest using a small turbo muffler or cherry bomb where the resonator sits.

UPDATE..........

I picked up a Thrush Turbo muffler for my exhaust. It's way too loud right now with the dual exhaust mod and no muffling except a resonator. Since my 92 XFi is unsafe to drive anymore I have no choice but to drive the Magnum this winter :shake

The 15" rims came off and the knarly, studded snow tires are mounted :drivin

This weekend, I will add the muffler, re-balance the studded snow tires, perform a valve adjustment, and finally I will be doing a complete undercarriage oiling. I have a pump sprayer and 50/50 mix of used diesel oil and mineral spirits ready to go. I do not want to lose this car to rust and it will be oiled well. I will also be doing the wife's rust-free 96 :thumb

Pics and updates coming!

Forgot His Manpurse

What about rubbercoating the underbody? Oiling would require re-applying.

Undercoating will trap moisture and make it rust out faster. I learned this from experience.

Well that sucks I guess she'll be headed to the scrap yard in a year or 2...I hate the rust belt with a passion. Just thinking of watching my cars rot away makes me sick.
