This problem is really aggravating me. I just got my metro back on the road after taking 4 months to put my rebuilt motor in. It started right up when i got it finished. Then this past Friday shit hit the fan. I was at a gas station and went inside to get cash. Then came back out and started the car. started backing up and it died. So i pushed it back in the parking space and tried cranking it... it doesn't start... I couldn't hear my fuel pump prime and when i put the key to the on position or tried cranking it and took the key out, there was a few lights lit up but very dim (no key in the ignition). I then checked relays, the fuel injection relay clicks and if I try cranking it again, it doesn't click. If I take the the fuel injection relay out then back in, it resets the dim lights and it also is able to click once then not able to. My fuel pump relay doesn't click at all. I was actually able to somehow get the pump to prime, so I cranked it up died immediately. Then the previous stuff happen. so I thought there was a short in the pump or something (it was pretty noisy when it primed). I replaced the pump and just left the tank sit on the ground and hooked everything up then tried to see if it prime...nothing... so I look around the forum and cant find anything. I go back out to my car and check voltage with a test light. with the key to the on position, I got voltage on the bottom 2 pins on the fuel injection relay connector and I only had voltage on the bottom right pin on the fuel pump relay connector. Then I connect the fuel injection relay. It clicks and I got voltage on the bottom 2 pins on the fuel pump relay connector. So I plug that in too. I go turn the key off then on... I hear the pump prime and primes the next 5 times i try. so i put the tank back together and put gas in it. Then started it right up! it ran fine Saturday and Sunday. Then comes this morning, and I got no start and the same crap happening. I have no idea whats going on!! anyone got ideas? Not that it matters but I did a 5 speed swap and used the auto ecu. The neutral safety switch is bypassed. The car is a 94 base model.

sorry for typing so much,
Brandon

sounds like an electrical gremlin...

"and when i put the key to the on position or tried cranking it and took the key out, there was a few lights lit up but very dim (no key in the ignition). "

This should NOT be SO... and is the first thing that needs to be addressed as it may be the Root of all your problems...

1) bad fuse box;
2) burnt /shorted wiring;
3) bad Grounds

:gp There is definatly something wrong in the harness. Sounds like it could even be the ign switch.

crankcase

:+1
Ya, thanks for finishing the thread. It's pretty sorry etiquette when someone posts a problem, people take the time to reply, and the original poster gets the problem fixed but does not post the solution :rasp (I've probably been guilty of this to some degree myself, so I'd better watch what I say) :slide .
