Idea for tachometer; Small engine tachometer

Dad has one of these on his mud motor.

It's a tachometer that uses a wire wrapped around the spark plug wire to get the engine RPM. So it wouldn't matter if you were using it on a 1 cylinder, 3 cylinder, or 16 cylinder.

It actually matters. I bought one "custom made" for a 3 cylinder -- I talked to the technician over the phone to make sure he knows it for a 3 cylinder. He did something special (don't remember exactly) to isolate the noise from the other 2 cylinders.

When I installed it was very jumpy and a 2-3 second delay. Not useful at all. Works good with my single cylinder tractors though.

I returned it and got a full refund.

I need to ask my brother about the Vapor guage he has on his DR650 then - It's a guage for motorcycles, and I think it can be set for a three banger (Like a Triumph)
