What's this fuel tank hose for?

I picked up this tank off CL from a guy that was parting a '92 Metro. It's got 4 lines and I'm trying to determine what each one is for. I know the 2 that go off to the right are fuel supply and return. The big one that runs across the front is vapor recovery so I can probably just vent that to atmosphere. My question is, what is the big one that goes up (red arrow)? what is that for and where does it go??

My FSM is for a '97 and the '92's are slightly different.

It's definitely essential - needs to be hooked up to the vent on the fillneck or you risk spilling gas everywhere when you're filling up.
