3k Engine cutout at WOT; Engine cuts out with extreme gas pedal pressure.

When I push hard on the gas pedal the engine gets to about 3k then cuts out till it gets sown to 2k then back up to 3k like a rev limiter. May be poorly adjusted throttle cable?

Is there a such thing as beyond wot?

I have a vacuum advance distributor.

I have a vacuum advance distributor.
You have a manual transmission? There is a throttle switch on the throttle body rather than a throttle position sensor. It has two functions. It slightly increases the fuel flow at idle, and also at higher power settings. The engine will run just fine with the throttle switch unplugged.

Perhaps your distributor is in need of repair.
