I just recently got this car tagged and decided to drive it over to my father in laws. When i got there I turned off the car. When I got there the car was doing some serious ( i mean serious) hard knocking, it also couldnt stay running until I pumped the gas. It also takes about 5-6 times now while pumping the gas to even get it started. I litterally just got this car tagged two weeks ago... Any suggestions? Or anything else I can provide you guys to help me out? Also, is this worth rebuilding? I really have no clue what went on... Thanks! |

Your going to have to locate the source of the knock. Depending on the shape of your car as to whether any major repairs are worth it or not. |

Okay, i'm a complete newb when it comes to most stuff. I can replace an alternator and a water pump. What can I do to locate the exact location of the knock? Thanks |

The crankshaft pulley might be loose. Or, you ran it out of oil. Did you check? How many miles on the car and engine? |

If you can post a video of it knocking, you might be more successful in locating the source. |

Definitely check the oil first. |

Is this a knock from run on or rods? You didn't make it clear. One is a matter of minor repairs while the other is not. If rods, check the oil level and then DRAIN the oil into a clean pan with no other debris/dirt in it. Pour the oil into a container for proper disposal and look at the bottom of the pan. Do you see lots of metallic flakes? Do you see chunks of metal? Conor |
