I just recently got this car tagged and decided to drive it over to my father in laws. When i got there I turned off the car. When I got there the car was doing some serious ( i mean serious) hard knocking, it also couldnt stay running until I pumped the gas. It also takes about 5-6 times now while pumping the gas to even get it started.

I litterally just got this car tagged two weeks ago...

Any suggestions? Or anything else I can provide you guys to help me out? Also, is this worth rebuilding? I really have no clue what went on...

Thanks!

Your going to have to locate the source of the knock. Depending on the shape of your car as to whether any major repairs are worth it or not.

Okay, i'm a complete newb when it comes to most stuff. I can replace an alternator and a water pump.

What can I do to locate the exact location of the knock?

Thanks

The crankshaft pulley might be loose.

Or, you ran it out of oil. Did you check?

How many miles on the car and engine?

If you can post a video of it knocking, you might be more successful in locating the source.

Definitely check the oil first.

Is this a knock from run on or rods? You didn't make it clear. One is a matter of minor repairs while the other is not.

If rods, check the oil level and then DRAIN the oil into a clean pan with no other debris/dirt in it. Pour the oil into a container for proper disposal and look at the bottom of the pan. Do you see lots of metallic flakes? Do you see chunks of metal?
