Parts under the hood; What are they?

This may be a stupid question, but I found a connector that has what at first glance looks like a fuse of some sort. Not sure what it is. it's on the drivers side at the firewall.

This is also a puzzler, but probably a no brainer. Looks like it has to do with fuel or something.
I probably should know what this is, but I don't :D :smackface

NOW I am curious...I have that very same connector with a something plugged into it just dangling around as well. I must check it out. I wonder if it is a diode bridge or just a jumper or a noise suppressor?

Do those ever need replaced? OR would it throw a code if something was bad?
