ok so i just got a new metro on the older one when u put ur finger over the part of t hose that goes to air intake it is sucking air really hard and will die if u leave finger there long enough ....so i was tinkering with new one discovered this was different took it all apart and hose and pcv were full of sludge oil so i cleaned out hose and replaced pcv but it still doesnt do what the old metro does which one is incorrect? also when i removed the pcv from port it started sucking air like crazy and revved up to about 4 grand i sprayed carb cleaner in port and cleaned it all out .not sure if its functioning right .....IS THE PCV SUPPOSED LET ENGINE INHALE OR EXHALE FROM PORT WHERE IT SITS ..i guess is my real question? |

It sucks air from the valve cover into the throttle body. If you are into fixing/repairing your metro you are on the right track by doing the small maintenance things first. The PCV is an easy and cheap fix. Probably five bucks or so and it can be done in a matter of minutes. Pull the rubber tube off the valve cover and you will see the PCV valve underneath it being secured with two phillips head screws and a metal plate. Unscrew the PCV from the manifold and replace it with the new one. Reinstall the rubber tube and you finished with that easy repair. Good luck with your future endeavours. |

i just recently redid head gaskt on my 94 geo metro. i drove it around town,put50 to60 miles on it. idle was a little rough but seemed to run fine. so i was going to work and when i was getting on to highway and accelerated black-grayish smoke came billowing out of the tailpipe took it home immediately. this motor was installed 33 thousand miles ago. (remanufactured motor) i noticed oil in tailpipe and inthe air cleaner, am going to replace pcv but would the pcv valve cause this problem |

new headgasket? Did you ensure that the oil restrictor stayed in place when you had the head off? Causes oil pharts if it is left out. |

It is an item that fits in the oil passage in the block that controls the amount of oil flow to the head. |

2000 Metro 1.3liter, 4 cylinder wanted to replace PCV valve, looked at posts and pics. not sure where mine is. do I remove the valve cover to get to it? have two suspect hoses coming from valve cover, one of those? |

Go buy one at an auto parts store. Then, ask the auto parts sales person if they will show you where it is on the car. They'll find in in a second, and might even change it for you. |

It's mounted on the valve cover, where the small hose comes out near the middle, on it's way to the big metal can of the intake manifold. If you remove the hose, the PCV valve just pops out of the valve cover. |
