Metro community is shrinking; ??

Metros are getting crushed, wrecked, and rusted on a regular basis, but they are not being produced anymore. I think I see a shrinking trend of activity on gmf as well. I have seen members here make the switch from their metros to new cars. For me personally, I will make the effort to revive even the nastiest metros. I hope you guys can help.

I agree. To most owners, a car is a means to an end. They're not willing or able to spend the time or money to keep their Geo Metros in operation.

Here's one that needs some of your love. :D

Doing my part to recruit. Seeing other local Metros a lot more often lately on the roads/in lots. I need to make up GMF 'stalker cards' to leave under wipers.

Gas prices are "down" lol

When they creep back up to ~4.00 as a national average you'll see/hear more.

But like the OP said, there's an ongoing attrition rate that takes its toll. High gas prices or no, our numbers will continue to decline, as the ravages of rust, and reticence to restore, march us ever closer to that fateful day when, the only thing being served up on the GMF menu is, "JM, party of one?".

I gave the PnP owner an ear-full about holding onto Metros longer, to no use. He says about 30-40 days in the yard, and then it's off to the crusher. I wonder how much for them at crusher time? Just to save rust-free carcasses. Not that I have anywhere to store them.

"earfuls" don't work. Try thrashing him about the face and neck area with a blunt object, next time.

This is a losing battle anyway. The end result is the same....we just decide how soon it happens.

i've ridden the train of much beloved favorite car models to the end of the line several times.

from what i'm seeing take place we have 4 or 5 years and then metros will be classics and parts will get hard to find.

you guys all seem to get a kick out of it when i say i found a new old stock part in my garage. that's why i have those parts - i put them away for the day i need something and can't find it anywhere. :D

I have noticed the community shrinking a bit.
I'm not on as much because I hardly drive my metro anymore, it just sits out front all day.

I will be next to the last man standing here . I rarely drive my metro , cause im always working / improving it the last 3years has only seen a trip to palooza and back. then its back to more improvements seems that never ends when I get it to the point I want it at I will drive it way more often . But I still hang here best forum on the net. I love working on them and putting them back on the road for others to enjoy and several times when they have had enough of it they find their way back here .I never turn down an old metro of mine .my girlfriend drives hers (red rover ) everyday and leaves her lexus sit . Loli get free gas from work so I drive my moms (r.i.p.) old Saturn sl2 .

I don't think I could survive without a metro. Driving 68 miles a day at $4.00 a gal adds up. I've had four Metro with a total investment of $5000.00
