Dont make me sad.. I have been trying so hard to find another. I rescued 3 between myself and coworkers. I want another in decent condition to start with so that i can fix it up and keep it as a spare. I see them but the asking price is just way too high. If you think US$500 is high in your area, try $1600 - $2000 for my area and they dont even have a working ac and still need a ton of work. So i keep waiting .. |

I've had mine for only 2 1/2 months. I have done a few things to it already, courtesy of this forum. I plan to do more when I have money. Total exhaust replacement from the manifold back, Sound deadening or something to quiet the ride a little. I would like to hold onto this car for a few years at least. One way drives to work of 40 miles, but only about $25 to fill up. |

Is the community REALLY shrinking? When I came here, there were usually about three pages of posts here. Recently, I've seen up to six. I'm member one thousand and something. We're up to, now, what is it, 13,000 members or something like that? But you are right...the group will inevitably shrink over time, as attrition takes its toll, new cars come along, people lose interest, sell cars, die, etc. Eventually it may have to be something like GMshrimpycarforum.com or something like that...with separate sections for Metro, Aveo, Spark, Corvair/Vega/Chevette, etc. |

I see Metros EVERYWHERE in my town. They are all over the place. And I always shake my head when I see a straight, rust-free one in a local yard because I know it is in there for something easily fixed. I just sold the silver '99 3/5 I picked up a few months ago to my girlfriend, and she loves it! So there is one more Metrophile in the fold! |

I'm in for the long haul. I've already had Fluffy for twelve years and plan to keep her as long as she is still running. I figure everyone in Joplin has seen me at least once. Every time I do something new to her I worry for a while about getting hit, but that doesn't keep me off the road. I don't know who they are, but I see another 89-94 Metro nearly every time I am driving, and there are lots of the newer ones around town. I keep entering car shows so people can learn to appreciate what cool cars we have. Each time she draws more attention, especially from the younger crowd, so I have great hope for the future. |

If I had a place to keep them, I'd have 5 or 6 Metros around. I see quite a few in my neck of the woods with the long commutes to Civilization that everyone is making. They're like nice go karts with heaters! And who doesn't like to drive a go kart? (Sweet, with this post I'm no longer a "Fresh Fish" )

when the day of reckoning finaly comes in our worl, ill eather switch to a small motorcycle (yamaha has a 250cc bike that only gets 87 mpg) or maby just ride 4 wheelers every where. i took the 92 suzuki lt 230 for a long treck with my little girl 2 days ago...got somewhere between 60-80 mpg....and thats not bad going hard at like 15-20 mph. maybe a moped...lol |

I am trying to get a boat in shape for summer, my grandkids and I can't wait to get on the water. I did surprise a late model Monte Carlo a couple days ago. He could get close on the straight parts but dropped way back in the corners. This was on the hill climb up towards my house, it gains 700 ft elevation in about a mile. More power is needed, I am still looking for an Esteem at the auction. There is a 97 this week in Portland but it is an automatic. I still look at this site every night but I am over at Iboats checking out boat stuff too. |

I have a 1994 chassis/body with barely any rust. The frame horns are solid except for a single bullet hole and there is no rust there. This car was purchased for parts and is being stripped. Someone had shot at the doors so the side windows are out and the interior is shot up and nasty from mold and mice. All but very few bullets went through the doors only and the rest of this car would make a great restoration project. I am looking to sell or trade it to someone as I hate to destroy what appears to be a pretty good start for a complete restoration project. I would need a new motor, new doors, new interior, and new many other things but the bare shell of the car is in good shape once you look past the obvious damage. I am going to hang onto this until the car is completely stripped of everything I want, then I will have to haul it to the scrap yard if no one wants it. I have enough junk around here and don't need this but would like to see it go to a good home. Conor |

the way i see it, as long as it has a VIN and a motor and a title, ill get a welder and get it driving again. the biggest problem in cars is the legal side of things. there are still a lot of metros here. please save them, new cars fall apart in 5 year so you have to buy a new one. (planned obsolesence) |

Many of the Metros that I see in the PNP look good. PNP won't sell the entire vehicle. I have read about the problems with the newer motors with direct injection. I appreciate the simplicity of these little cars, but many people don't plan to do any repairs themselves. If they did cars like Metros would be kept on the road. This week I saw a Sprint Turbo on Craigs List. I have too many Metros already. http://austin.craigslist.org/cto/3865389043.html And then I saw this Swift GTI: http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/3831399543.html In my way of thinking these are collector cars. The trailer hitch on the turbo car was almost a deal maker Edited by Tim Keith, Jun 14 2013, 11:55 PM.
