ive got leaking valve guide seals on my engine and was wondering how much can the machine shop mill the head before i have to start modifying ignition timing or use higher octane fuel.i would like to have it milled as much as possible for the extra horsepower but i dont want it to affect the fuel i have to use or have to reprogram the ecm or go with megasquirt.engine is a 1.3 g13 single overhead cam with coilpacks.gonna have them go through the whole head with seals guides and valves if needed. |

My suggestion is to replace the valve stem seals with the head on the car, if that's all that's wrong. Or, do nothing if your oil consumption is acceptable. Minimal milling is all I do. Trying to modify a nicely designed engine can get you into a situation where you wish you hadn't done what you did to try to improve economy or performance. I have a nice set of Viton/Teflon valve stem seals for your engine. If you're interested, send me a PM. Glenn |

I went .015 on my heads(2) and both are fine with 86 octane but I also have different cams then stock and reshaped the cambers as well. So I guess this doesn't mean much for you. |

Like the G10, the seals don't wear out unless you have a problem. Since your head uses the same undersized guides the G10 uses, but in a more severe environment, you will need at least some guides replaced, probably on the exhaust side, but possibly both. I wouldn't take more than .020" off your head. Although stock it's a low compression engine, you have no way of adjusting timing, so you can't overdo it. That, and in this application, the gains will be minimal. Have you seen this? http://www.teamswift.net/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=48005 |

You can get an adapter that screws into the sparkplug hole and use air pressure to keep the valves in place or you can go low tech, stuff the cylinder full (at the bottom of it's stroke) with rope/cord then spin it by hand to compress the rope and hold the valves in place while you dismantle/work on them. It is important not to move the crank while you are doing the work. If the valves don't seal or you spin the crank while the keepers are off the valve you could drop the valve into the cylinder and then it's time to pull the head... |

There's a seal that you can get for the camshaft position sensor housing from Suzuki. A new one of those and little Ultra-Gray RTV on the flange, and you'll cure that oil leak. I had a recent discussion about the possibility of replacing valve stem seals without removing the head on a G13BB with j63821f. It's not going to happen. Off with the head, and take it to a machine shop for repair. They'll let you know if you need any parts replaced. Mill as required. -0.020" off the head is an arbitrary decision that may affect your driveability, performance, and ability to pass emissions testing. -0.005" is a more typical repair to the head gasket mating surface. |

Yes we do. Did you check out the link I posted? There's one discussed in there. Regarding the sprocket, you don't need an adjustable one, the stock one is fine. |
