Here's what I want to know:
1. Suzuki what? Esteem, or something else?
2. How you made the wiring adapter. Reverse harness wired to standard harness, or...? :hmm

Mr Mojo Risin'

I do believe that is from a Suzuki Forenza/Reno (I also have one I've been toying with installing) B-)

Good evening everyone :D I know it's been a while since I've been on but my life has been all work and no play :coffee that is until this past weekend. I got the chance to hang out with stiffchezze and do some work to Shaun :cheers One of those things was to get speakers put in. Got some sweet Pioneer 6.5 100 watt RMS ones, they sound awesome. During the weekend, we hit the pull-a-part and got some cool stuff. The radio mentioned above was one. It was pulled from a 2007 Suzuki Reno. The Reno was toast, completely totaled. :'( Since the stock Metro unit was pretty much toast in Shaun, stiffchezze (after much consideration :hmm ) decided he would install it in Shaun. There was some minor modification to the radio mounting section but in the end, you see the result. :thumb after having it for the day, driving is so much better. :drivin

Toast is a pretty good description on that poor '07 Reno. :'( It flipped more than a few times. :shake
I didn't even have to open the door to get the radio out. I just reached in, pulled the broken dash plastic out of the way and undid the four bolts holding it to the dash. To tell you how bad that crash must have been, the mounts for the radio were bent! :oshit

Back to happier things! :banana
Suzuki moved to this unit in a bunch of the cars in the late 2000s so finding one should not be that hard. As you can see in the pic, it's actually a Daewoo unit.

The pinout diagram is printed VERY nicely on top of the unit. It is not a direct plug and play, so you need to grab (read cut ) about 6" or so of the wiring harness from the donor. After that all you need is to add a aftermarket stereo wiring harness (found one in a Metro elsewhere in the lot. Score!) and it plugs right it. The wire colors are a little confusing, so just match it up to the pinout and your be fine. Even includes a power remote line!

You can swap over the mounts from your Metro factory unit, but the screws go to weird places. I'll pull it back out to take pics next time Tbone78 comes over, but on one side two of the screws have to go right next to each other and one of the mounts has to be bent slightly to accommodate the heatsink on one side. You can't use the rear mount because the new unit is just a little longer than the Metro one.

Even though the units are the same size, the volume button is so low on the front that you do need a little extra room in the dash. For that I just trimmed the plastic on the dash BEHIND the radio bezel (not the bezel itself) to allow the radio to mount about 1/8" higher. With the bezel in place you can not see the plastic behind it so don't worry about how it looks. :gamerz

TOTALLY worth doing for what you get for the price. :thumb

Overall I'm pretty happy with how it came out and I KNOW Tbone78 is. :cheers

EDIT:
Here is a link to a '07 Forenza Owners Manual that has the operation manual for this unit on Pages 104-123. :rocker
Link--->Forenza Owner's Manual

;) And if you look JUST a little closer you can see that this unit ALSO works with steering wheel controls. Its on Pins 13 and 16. Believe it or not, Our Metro's are already wired in the clocksprings for such an animal. It would take a little doing (not near as much as you think) to put them in a Metro too! :evillol

Wonderful work, as always, Stiffchezze! :thumb
I'd be tempted, myself, but I like having a pocket under my stereo!
It'd be a really good option for some, though... :hmm

That is a VERY nice upgrade while still keeping it factory. I like that a lot.

There's nothing Suzuki about it though, just as there's nothing Suzuki about a Reno. The Reno was a Daewoo sold worldwide Suzuki got involved. When Daewoo failed in North America is when GM put the pressure on Suzuki to start selling their cars. It's most likely that both the Metro and the Reno stereos are actually Delco.
