There are SO MANY METROS around me.
For the right price, I could go to the junkyard and harvest seat belts...
Offhand, I don't know what "the right price" IS.
But I do know that the PnP charges $17.99 per side for retractable seat belts.

Why you Mutt!

Actually, I LIKE the door mounted belts on my '91. They are so long that we've never needed a seat belt extender, unlike every other car I've owned in the past 20+ years.

I tested it out today in a junkyard, The back seat belts fit in the cavity, but they only have one attachment point and are pretty free floating. I wouldn't feel very comfortable with it.

Thanks, Dover! At least now I know, for sure, that I'll need to harvest a belt from somewhere and get it installed, rather than leap-frog one from the rear to the front.

Why are there no Geo Metro Goodwill stores in my area? :ermm:

It's a damn shame I not a conjoined twin, like Chang & Eng, as, using both front belts in unison, like I'm doing now, would be the norm.

...but a couple tubes of crazy glue and a willing partner :hmm

buy your wife a large tube of crazy glue. get caught cheating on her. get drunk some night, sneak in the house, go to sleep naked on the couch.

You will wake up conjoined to yourself. :lol

I need to change my seat belts. I like the idea of them being on the car frame rather than the door frame. The shoulder strap now doesn't lock up if there is a sudden jerk forward so there is nothing to prevent me from eating the steering wheel. I'm afraid I'll die in a horrible traffic accident on I-5. I have a friend who can help me mount them to the car, but don't know where to get new belts. Any ideas anyone?

It's possible that the seat belt doesn't lock up because it thinks the door is open. Does your dome light work correctly?

Get racing harnesses.
Racing harnesses are nice.
But---
They have expiration dates and are quite costly.
You can use them here in the Old Dominion,
However,
If you encounter an inspector who knows what's what, he will check the date and (if they've expired) fail you, even though the belts are in good shape and work correctly.

Yeah, just get the seat belt assembly from a 95+ I put the belt from a 98 sedan on my drivers side, I haven't regretted it one bit, it doesn't retract the last foot, but it works, I do regret not getting the passenger side done :/

I did not replace the panel. You just need to cut the notch, its already outlined, you will see it.

Need to drill the hole on the B pillar and the hole on the floor is already there.

Be sure to put a steel plate behind the bolt on the B pillar to distribute the load.
What size metal did you put in the B pillar and how did you get it back there?

Wow, Scoobs. I love the look of the new, seatbelt-less, door panels! Much cleaner lines. I'd love to do that to mine, if & when I ever get around to swapping my belts with pillar mounted ones. Only possible hitch is, those early model metros have the vent thingy in them.
I'm not sure if those early model door panels would retrofit onto my '92. Does anyone know?

:hmm Door panels from a 92 or 93 vert should be the answer... I think?
