Look at the pic I posted above, the UP side is the side that has the notch on the top center. Actually its hard to see, if I had photoshop I coulda drew an arrow to it.

I've got a 3Tec econo cam with a 6 deg timing gear. I was afraid of shorting out something with the jumper. I have 5 wires coming from that plug, and the book said the bottom two on the left. You can flip the plug over and still have two wires on the bottom left. What is "up" on this plug?

A little redundant... Looking at the two hood stickers on the left of this pic you see the little 6 square box showing the jumper in the two lower left corner. There is a small line (rectangle) on the top of the drawing. That represents the locking clip on the plug.

Just an update, if anyone is interested. We both have Ultraguages in our cars. Turns out the Ultraguage, when actively plugged in, keeps the ECM from releasing the timing for setup. It hit me today like a brick, and when we unplug the Ultraguage and put the jumper on, the ECM drops the idle and brings the mark back to where we can see it.

PROBLEM Solved!!

Who'da thunk.
That is SUPER interesting :hmm

:news That's right. You do have a nice timing light.

Dear Craigslist,

Show me a timing light as nice as Mythstae's.

Love,

Geo Glenn

I checked my timing after disconnecting the Ultra-Gauge. 4-1/2° BTDC. I had it set for 5° BDTC with the Ultra-Gauge connected. Close enough. Jumper out, connector stowed, hood down. Ultra-Gauge reconnected.

:drivin

Geo Glenn - Out.
